Leroux: Thanks! Also for confirming that KQ VI is indeed worth the money for the whole package on its own, that's what I was hoping. The SQ 4-6 package doesn't look too bad either.
Oh, most definitely it's worth it. I would be willing to call KQ6 Sierra's second-best game (with Gabriel Knight 1 being the best one). ...albeit with the caveat that I haven't played QFG at all. It's one of the most shining examples of that particular era of adventure games... lovely art and music (I'm listening to the soundtrack right now, actually), a cast of enjoyable and well-voiced characters, mostly logical puzzles (it IS Sierra, you can't get away from the moon logic and dead ends entirely...), etc.

The SQ games, meanwhile, I would call solidly good. They won't necessarily knock your socks off, but they will give you a nice warm tingly feeling in your feet. SQ5 is my particular favorite, but SQ4 and SQ6 also have a lot going for them.

Magnitus: However, rationalizing which of the games you'd consider buying at the offered price may be of genuine value to other users who are considering a potential purchase.
Well, I admit I really can't understand how people can feel like getting 3 games for $7 is a bad deal, even if they're old ones. The only reason I'm not buying them is because I already own the KQ, PQ, and SQ collections Sierra released a long while back, and they all cost me more per game than this deal does. *shrug*

Simple: Games have very dated graphics (to the point where I care) and were succeeded by 3 later games that are bound to be very similar and as such given the developers plenty of opportunity to improve on the formula with later titles.

I've been there before. Played Ultima VII & VIII (along with the Underworlds, but arguably they were different beasts) and loved both games. Then I got an Ultima I-VI bargain pack, only to end up being disappointed by the older games in the series (beyond the graphics, the gameplay had evolved too with the later titles).

Could it have been different with SQ I-III? Big maybe, but I was not about to spend 7$ to find out especially when I got plenty of other games to play.

These are adventure games, though. Adventure games don't change all that much in gameplay; it's still solving puzzles and exploring a story no matter the interface. Particularly in Sierra games, which have a very distinctive "style" in all their games.

Plus, I got the feeling that people were considering all of the packs to not be worth the value, not just the packs of EGA games.
