Hi there fellow GOGers!
I start this thread since I discover something curious, but most curious is that seems forum's elder members didn't know it either! Or at least I didn't see a post explaining it.
What I am talking about is to save those 17 digits keys that have an expiration date!
How? Well, it seems those 17 keys digits aren't the final result key that you get after make any purchase; instead, it seems to be a purchase order key and for that reason it can be redeemed as a gift, eliminating the expiration date and turning it into a 20 digit key.
But which keys I am talking about? This ones:
X14755A3HB64FD184 (Don't worry, is an invalid code)
Which is different from the 20 digits one, that looks like this:
XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX (A 5x4 code, separed with -)
So now I will explain a how to go through the whole process:
- Once located your key, give it to a friend's account that has not the game in his library.
- Now make him go to the redeem link and introduce it.
- Press continue and the site will show you the key content and the expiration date.
- On the next page, instead of redeem it direct to that account, select the gift option and introduce an email adress were the final 20 digit key will be delivered.
- Now you can press continue. (Or redeem, don't remember which one)
- You are done, you will receive a 20 digit key without expiration date!
- Now be kind, and keep that key for future GiveAways, friends or relatives who you convince to get a GOG's account!
At this point I must clarify that I have some doubts before creating this post, since the first member I talk about this didn't take so well, and start talking that i wasn't being honest with my "intentions". However, I will play GOG's same card about their 30 days money back policies on point 14. If GOG makes some promotions, let's think first it was for GOG members before other forums members, as well it is intended to remain free; think first in GOG's forum GA. Don't be a bad guy, no ones like that guy.
Anyway, thanks to some forums member who take nice this initiative, I was able to save from expiring a few keys, so expect a Witcher 2 GA late in 2015, and if you are lazy enough and have one of those expiring key, PM it to me so I can save it for you. I hope GOG forums don't get a W2 shortage soon hahahaha.
Happy new year eve! Cheers to you all!
