Hack and slash like there's no tomorrow!

Hammerwatch, a fast-paced fantasy hack-and-slash with exciting multi-player modes and lots of pixelated nostalgia, is available 50% off on GOG.com. That's only $4.99 for the next 24 hours!

Sword in hand, eyes blinking to adjust to the dark, you take your first cautious steps into the dungeon. You can never tell what secrets and dangers the underground holds just by looking at the entrance. An unassuming hole in the ground, a trapdoor in some moldy basement, a cave overgrown with weeds--it almost never holds a promise of anything interesting. A true adventurer will know, however. They will feel the gentlest breeze, they will smell a hint of foul monster stench, they'll be magically drawn to the treasures and artifacts hidden below, and they will boldly venture forth. Before then know it, they'll be hacking, slashing, and looting as if the fate of the entire world was at stake. And they'll have fun. Even more fun if you gather a party before venturing forth. Such is the way of dungeon crawling, such it has been, and such it will ever be.

Hammerwatch is a modern indie game with the heart of a classic. The main idea--conquering dungeons and other formidable locations--is almost as old as computer gaming itself. The execution, however, makes it a perfect pick for modern-day thrill-seeking gamers. With fast-paced, dynamic gameplay full of nice ideas, optional local and online multi-player, and even a scenario editor that allows for the creation of your very own adventures from scratch (including new graphics!), this little pixelated gem can bring you hours and hours of nostalgic hack-and-slash fun. Beware, though: dungeoning is a highly addictive hobby!

Unleash the pixelated fantasy mayhem with all the right RPG flavors with Hammerwatch, for only $4.99 on GOG.com. The 50% discount offer lasts until Thursday, November 21, at 10:59AM GMT.
Its on my wishlist and I wish I could but I'm all Keaned out! X)
Can't touch this. (LOL.)

Sorry. I couldn't help it. After seeing the word...

Anyway, great game. I wish I had the resources for it.
Nice little game. Shame their aren't more attempts at Gauntlet clones like this. Sure better than all the tower defense attempts out there.
Shocked the soundtrack came with it.

By the way, anyone notice the third screen shot on the gamecard is a bit convex on both ends? :D

The pixel art wouldn't look that awkward if it wasn't for all the smooth modern lighting and shadow effects. If you want to go retro go full on retro. This is also why I turn off al the modern effects when playing Doom or Heretic in the Doomsday engine, it just looks out of place.
Instantly bought it :)
Well, this looks quite nice. And, once again, the game comes for Linux as well. Cool! And it's also currently on sale in the Humble Store for $4.80, which is even better.
Is this a very violent game?

I haven't play it myself but somebody made review of this game and mentioned that he played with a six year old girl (to find this review check the gamecard) so I assume it's not violent :)

BTW: cool avatar! Jetpack rules!

You can actually activate that effect in the settings (game looks like played on a CRT screen). Quite funny.

You can deactivate all effects.

As the poster above me stated, it's basically as designed :)

But then again, the music combines modern choirs and fully digitalised orchestral sounds with chiptune beeps. The whole "retro meets now thing" is a part of the game's aesthetic theme if you ask me.

Anyway, Hammerwatch is such a great game. I hope a lot of people make use of this sale and get to discover this little indie gem.
I'd consider it if it came with the ol' Contra '30 lives' code. :P

I've got to preorder it, it's just too cool to resist but I've been putting it off. :-(

P.S.: Anyone who wants to see Jetpack games on GOG, raise awareness and vote for them in the wishlist!!!
