Welcome to relativity!

FEZ, an original and surprisingly deep perspective-twisting puzzle-platformer with an huge open world full of secret areas for you to explore, is available 50% off on GOG.com for Windows and Mac OS X. That's only $4.99 for the next 24 hours!

FEZ is a puzzle-platformer like no other. First of all, its gameplay mechanics come with a perspective-changing twist, that make every stage of the game not one, but four 2D landscapes. You'll have to use that to your advantage and figure out how to make seemingly impossible jumps. That's just scratching the surface, though. There's no telling just how many complex and original puzzles have been hidden in the world of FEZ. That might be the first game in quite some time, that will make you take notes while you play, so you can crack some of the game's secrets and understand its strange languages. There's so many layers and levels to the world you'll be exploring, that you probably won't see the half of it at your first play-through! Pair that with incredibly diverse level-design, and charming pixel-art (ummm... sorry, trixel-art) graphics, and what you get is one of the most remarkable titles of our time. Be sure not to miss it!

Get cracking at some of the most ingenious puzzles in platformer history, in the
mind-and-matter-bending gem of a game, FEZ, for only $4.99 on GOG.com. Don't wait, because the 50% off discount offer lasts only until Thursday, October 17, at 9:59AM. That's also the final promo you can match with our special offer that grants you a FREE copy of The Witcher: Enhanced Edition with your every purchase.

Sashh: Friendly warning: if you're not into cryptic stuff, don't bother. Game is beautiful, but I expected indie platforming, not indie decyphering game.
Fun fact: there's very little cryptic puzzles actually needed (unless you're aiming for 100% completion and found secrets).

Regardless it seems like a really nice game though.
Unwilling to fix bugs? Please! This game had more than 10 updates and now it works smoothly even on my toaster (but it still not work with most graphic cards that don’t support OpenGL 3.0).

Also it IS a really nice and replayable game. Some riddles are insane but you dont’t have to solve them to finish game.

Faith: LOL Just found this
"Game breaking bugs at the start of the game, lazy port, arrogant asshole developer. This should have been given for free on the PC as an apology from him"

Are the game's realy bad port?
Personally I think the game is great, and that's really all I care about. Couldn't care much less about the online and interview behaviour of the developer, especially seeing how the people talking to him aren't any better.

high rated
FEZ is a really important game and one that should be played and treasured by those with a love of games.Personally I own it twice already but will buy it a third time when it comes to Playstation Vita.

People bitch and moan about big publishers and their practices all the time and yet still buy their games. Phil might behave like an arse but the game was clearly a labour of love and dedication and people shouldn't forget that he wasn't alone in making the game, why should Ken Schachter suffer?
The game and Fish had a lot go wrong over it's long development cycle but they kept working on it despite all the complications and yet the game did eventually get released which is a testament to his desire to finish it, pretty astounding when you look at the way he acts. When a 2 man team (3 if you count his former partner) work on a game it's inevitable that the game will be affected more by their personal lives and personalities. Childish temper tantrums and insults are something common on the net and most of us have done it at some point; it's really nothing compared to the shit we willingly ingest on a regular basis from the big publishers and developers.

I love the game and feel that it's original, it's enjoyable and it's memorable. If you think you'll like it, then get it and enjoy the game.

Ditto on the well said.
I don't know if I'm going to get it but well said and the prime reason I never bitch about a release or sale here regardless of how much I may hate the game.

Licurg: What's so special about it ?
I buy and play a lot of games. I own an xbox 360 with over 100 games, a playstation 3 with 40 games+ Playstation Plus and whatever games I've gotten from that, a playstation vita with a large number of games including psp, psone, psn & vita, and pc with over 300 games on my steam account alone and over 150 here on gog.com, along with a huge collection of physical disks (not including older console generations.) Not bragging, just saying that I consider myself a major gamer (I don't know how many hours I average a week but it's a lot). BUT I am also an easily bored gamer because I've seen and done it all so many times and games have a frustrating tendancy of being way too similar to one another and so I frequently get bored with games and have enough that I can afford to move onto another, as such it's only standout games that ever get completed.

FEZ is one such game that I completed. It stood out for me because it felt fresh as it was something I hadn't experienced before. I loved the peaceful music and the colourful graphics (another thing I'm sick of is moody realistic graphics) and the puzzles kept me intrigued. The game was engrossing start to finish and I didn't get distracted wanting to play other games in the time it took me to complete it, which is a rarity for me as I will generally have 5 games of various genres on the go at any one time. It was fun and it was an experience and I'm glad I didn't miss out on it.

Licurg: What's so special about it ?
That's what I was wondering. It's only rated 3.5 by GOGgers, and the reviews are full of problems with the game, including it won't start, doesn't work with Intel integrated graphics (which, unfortunately, I have), and saved data disappearing. There are statements about the devs not bothering to fix issues with the game, but there are also statements that the game has been patched several times.

I don't know about the behind-the-scenes drama, and could care less about it; the game's the thing - and, unfortunately, this one's reviews, history of technical problems, and support are just too spotty for me to risk what little money I have.

Terrific review, and if it weren't for the potential tech issues with the game, this would make me pull the trigger in a heartbeat, even at full price. I used to collect consoles and games and, at the peak, had nearly 1k games for various systems. I'm the same way as you: seen and played it all, so I rarely complete a game any more.

Well, as someone who owns the game I can assure you that it runs flawless on my integrated graphics (Intel HD 3000).
And it was patched already (two times?)

All in all, I'd say most of the negative comments come from people that have a problem with Phil Fish.
And those people will carry on with negative reviews, negative comments, negative tweets and whatdoiknows in all eternity, so I wouldn't put their words on gold scales, if you know, what I mean.

Did you have any of the problems mentioned in the reviews ? I don't mean glitches, but game-breaking stuff .

Thanks; I appreciate you taking the time to straighten this out! As for the dev's problems, I could care less. I mean, as a fellow human, I wish nothing but good things for him but, as a yardstick by which to measure his work, then his personal life doesn't matter to me; the final product does. In other words, I don't listen to people who become part of the drama. ;)

I had one game breaker once on the Xbox 360 version of it where it froze very close to the end, that was before the first patch but I didn't lose my save or anything, just got put back at the start of that particular 'climb'. PC I had no bugs. (Spec: i5 3570k, 8gb DDR3 ram, Nvidia 660GTX, Soundblaster X-Fi Platinum.) Not completed it on pc though, played for about 5 hours and then the vita release was announced and I decided to wait for that as hopefully I'll have forgotten most of the solutions by then. Not tried it on my laptop though and I have read about issues with integrated chipsets.

(Edit: I put after the first patch, not before.)
