Turn and face the strange!

Evoland, a console-style RPG that's a tribute to all console-style RPGs and a trip through almost 30 years of console-style RPG history that just keeps evolving from one console-style RPG to another console-style RPG, is available 60% off today, on GOG.com. That's only $3.99 for the next 24 hours!

Hi, I'm Joe and I'll be your guide in this fantastic adventure. You're the hero and you walk from left to right. That's it. My job here is done. Oh, wait. You walk left to right or right to left. Scratch that, you can go in four basic directions. But that's it. That's the entire game. Oh, wait! You have a dagger. So now you can poke 8-bit monsters with it. What? Make that 16-bit monsters. That's it. That's the entire game--you go around poking 3D monsters with your bad-ass sword. Wait? When did this become 3D? And what's this all about an epic quest? That's it, I quit. Find another narrator. This game evolves so fast, that I can't keep up. Upgrades, upgrades everywhere! Everything changes! You'd have to be a gamer to figure this one out.

Evoland is a fantastic concept brought to live with much passion and dedication. This console-style role-playing game starts small and simplistic, and evolves into new complex and appealing forms as you progress. Every upgrade you unlock brings in another time-tested gameplay idea into the picture. What starts off looking like one of your earliest 8-bit memories, progressively becomes a modern game with all the bells and whistles we've learned to expect from the RPG genre. This is as much a game as it is a virtual gaming museum trip that's nostalgic and entertaining! For such a low admission fee, it would be a shame not to take it.

Take a plunge into the history of one of gaming's most prominent genres in Evoland, for only $3.99 on GOG.com! The offer lasts until Thursday, July 18, at 9:59AM GMT.
It's not that it's bad, it's just brief and forgettable.
It's kind of disappointing to be, for example, in a game that looks like a 2d zelda but yet has no interesting exploration or puzzles.

However, a cheap, brief game is often a pleasant diversion. So I wouldn't write it off entirely.

Maybe its time to give it a try?
Ahh, but there are so many other games on my backlist.
It's a interesting diversion, fun, but very short.
Me one week ago:

"This game was just on sale for $4.99 during the summer sale. I didn't buy it then, and I had not-buyer's remorse when the sale ended. I'm glad it went on sale again because I wasted no time picking it up. Now I just have to wait for Evoland to go on sale next......."

You sure know how to treat a guy, GOG. <3

How short?

With ~30 entries I would dare to say it's pretty accurate. Less than 4 hours... not so good.

I'm passing, mainly because my backlog is still pretty big.

Three, maybe four hours. However, if you want to find all the "Hidden goodies" you could easily tack on a few more.

4 hours or so?
Unless you're into collecting all the things, possibly. I didn't do that.

Bloodygoodgames: It is fun. I bought it at full price and thought it was well worth the money. At $3.99, it's an amazingly good deal.

Plus, it's a truly unique game so I was happy to support the developer.
You actually convinced me to buy it at full price on release too.

Yeah, it's a nice game. A bit on the short side, the concept is better than the realization, but at this price, I don't think you can do much wrong if you're into those kind of games.
