What goes bump in the night?

Don't Starve, a wilderness survival sandbox game with many original ideas, item crafting, and remarkable visuals, is available 50% off today on GOG.com. That's only $7.49 for the next 24 hours!

Cast in the middle of unwelcoming wild you will need to learn to take care of yourself without all the commodities and luxuries that our civilization provides. It's back to the basics! You need to gather supplies, hunt, avoid dangers, and learn how to make a living in the harsh realm that became your new home. When you're alone in the woods death can come to you in many different ways. A bee hive might prove to be far more dangerous than a forest fire. But your most lethal and persistent enemy is hunger. What am I going to eat today--that's going to be your first thought every day. At least for the first week. Then--well--let's just say the game will throw many challenges your way.

Don't Starve is what you get when you mix survival horror gameplay (with the emphasis being on the "survival" part) with cartoony Tim Burton-esque graphics, and fun crafting mechanics. The game is really challenging, and the diverse world your character is cast into constantly evolves and grows with the creators' more or less regular content updates.

It's your chance today, to grab Don't Starve for only $7.49 on GOG.com! That's 50% off until Thursday, August 29, at 9:59AM GMT.

Meh...
On the fence. It does look interesting, but I don't usually buy games I'm not certain I'll play right away when they are above 5$ (or I already tried them before). It depends on how much beer I have tonight, I suppose.
A nice person on GOG bought this for me as a gift back in the summer and I think I'm at over 100 hours gameplay now.

It's completely addictive. Gorgeous graphics, fun gameplay and so many possible ways to die you lose count.

And no, I haven't gotten anywhere near finishing the game yet as I always, always die -- but it's still an awesome game, which I highly recommend.
Bought this at the weekend from HB and finally got around to installing it last night. I must say that the game does look really really nice and I look forward to many hours of play ahead of me.
^ Agree with Bloodygoodgames.
This game is not "meh". This game is not one that looks all that complex but looks can be deceiving. This game is not one you beat once and put it away forever.

This game IS awesome. It is more than meets the eye and definitely addicting. You won't come close to beating the game in multiple playthrus but the challenge/desire to do so is there and combined with everything else, will keep you coming back to see how far you can make it. Wait till you make it to winter for the first time and see how you must change your methods from season to season in order to survive. Wait till night approaches and you realize you don't have all the necessities to make a fire and get to daylight again. Wait till you're far from camp and you hear the distant sound of wild dogs who caught your scent. Wait till its night and you hear the thrashing of a deerclops very close by with nowhere to run until daylight cuz you realize you have no torch. Yep, so many ways to die and have fun to try to beat everything the game throws at you just so you Don't Starve. Which in all honesty is not that hard to do. You should die a dozen other ways first.

Wonderful little gem..

Heh, I hope I did it justice. i've been playing (over 150 hours) since I got this game a few months ago and still haven't discovered everything. You'll have to tell me your impressions on it.

I didn't mention the devs update the game once a month. There are multiple characters to unlock, all with different skills and strengths. Once you get going, your little camp will turn into a flourishing homestead with farms (food, honey). You'll have a flower garden. You'll raise beefalos (but don't go near them when they are in heat). There's also a research element to be able to make bigger and better things. You can go graverobbing too (at the expense of your sanity) to have a chance to loot rare items to help you. There's a whole lot to discover the more you play. Happy gaming! :)

Maybe not grow, but I hope I can craft them :P
Damn, just bought this from the Humble Store last week because they had a better price (and the soundtrack). But I'd really like to have it on GOG, where I can be sure of getting the updates. GOG, why don't you have the soundtrack as well? Razzafrazzin' quandries...
