A worthy challenge for the gentlemen demon hunters!

99 Levels to Hell, a challenging roguelike-platformer in which you shoot devious demons in dangerous dungeons randomly-generated to make each playthrough unique, is available 60% off today on GOG.com. That's only $3.99 for the next 24 hours.

So, there's this dungeon, see? And it's infested by monsters, right? Not just your average overgrown bats and blood-thirsty mutated rats, no sir! We're talking ghosts, ghouls, and god damn demons. It's supposed to go way, way down. Some say it's got ninety-and-nine levels, each more dangerous than the last one. There's even talk around town that the underground goes as far as hell itself. Supposedly the Beast (not just a beast, mind you--the Beast) awaits for the adventurers bold, or stupid enough to venture down. And you tell me, that you're excited at the prospect of exploring that place? My friend, I must admit, that's mighty manly of you.

99 Levels to Hell has you exploring the depths of an ominous underground that starts to look more and more like a hellish pit with every level you descend. The stages are procedurally generated, assuring each playthrough to be different than the last one. There's also enough weapons and special items to cater to your individual play style and let you slay the baddies any way you like. With challenging difficulty level, intense combat, and original style, 99 Levels to Hell can be recommended to any seasoned platformer fan!

Grab your tophat, fix your monocle, and start vanquishing evil like a sir in 99 Levels to Hell, for only $3.99 on GOG.com. The offer lasts until Thursday, May 16, at 9:59AM GMT.
Wait, 4 gigs of ram? I have 8, but that seems a bit excessive for this game. It looks nice, but it also looks like something that would be possible on a 360 at maybe a lower resolution.

It doesn't say the game needs a 64bit OS and supports XP. The maximum amount of ram any single process can have there is like 2GB. Does anyone with the game know if it really takes that much while running?

mrking58: :( I don't have 4Gbs of RAM.

Shaolin_sKunk: Awwww.....

Well.... just chuck it on the "needs a better computer" pile.

Man...
I finished the game on a MacBook with 2 gigs of RAM, just set the resolution and quality settings to low.

Huzzah! My crappy lappy is probably still going to struggle but at least I can play it.

Thanks for the info.

I think the reqs are heavily exaggerated

I think that's just the lowest system specs they have to test with. If that's the case, I would like to exchange my Intel dual-core 3.0 for one of their rigs. I've been needing an upgrade for some time now...

Ummmmmm...... Go to hell?
Na, I am quite happy living for now.

I remember reading there are 99 handcrafted levels presented in random order each playthrough. Eh?

They do appear to be handcrafted and in random order. The items, enemies, and door types and positions in the levels are randomized.
I am so tempted to buy it at this price although I am not big on platform/arcade like games. But the real turn off is that you move up 10 levels at a time and if you fail at the 10th level you need to replay the other 9 again. Really bad decision although I think that was the point of the game as reflected in the title.

Edit: OMG LOL, just read the full thread and noticed people talking about the 4GB ram requirement. ROFL. Crysis 3 just came out with min ram req of 2GB and recommended of 4GB. LOL at this platformer wanting 4GB to play.

If you find them, there are things like elevators and umbrellas that take you to different levels. With luck, you can skip 8 levels in a single go.
I wanna throw a big shout out to my backlog for helping me to save money!
This game looks awesome...I am almost tempted to get it, but I probably shouldn't splurge any more money than I already have.
