GameRager: Or the third option: I have a strong suspicion that you are scum. :P
------------------------
It's not the term I dislike, but rather how you seemed/seem so intent on changing things around after many of us(apparently) already had a set of terms in place(Gangsters/thugs).
That's option number 2.

I proposed it right after at least 3 of us misunderstood the established terms. "If it doesn't work, change it." :-)

@drennan; I said right before it that I want to call informed minority "mafia", so I would lynch everyone who claims mafia. Where is the slip?
And where does the idea of infiltrators come from?

@Red_Baron; I got lost in your post.

Vitek: And where does the idea of infiltrators come from?
What do you mean? Joe was very clear about this.

JoeSapphire: This looks like an inside job. Looks like some fellas here can't be trusted.

drennan:
I don't pay too much attention to flavour so this is the first time I read this (sorry Joe)
It looks more like betrayers or usurpers or something similar more than infiltrators to me. But yeah, now I at least get where you got it.

I guess he meant infiltrators in the sense that the main bad guys are in pretty much any mafia game. Even if they're not mafia and town thematically, it's always a small organised group that has infiltrated a larger and not so organised group. It's just that in this case we are mafia and have been infiltrated by some... others.

Hmm, I'm wondering if the fact you didn't read the flavour is the cause of your confusion about the term mafia. Having said that... a true mafia member wouldn't have been confused by not having read the opening flavour on account of having a nice clear PM.

He all but claimed to be mafia in this post.
avatar
Vitek: Soooo... who is not mafia?
And I voted in order to flesh out his thinking. It was very early in the game for him to come out with something so obvious.

Yeah I suppose so... I still find his reluctance to go along with the established name of our faction suspicious though, just in terms of it coming across as an attempt to sow confusion.

I actually read most of flavour this time but I stopped reading OP when I got to rules and only returned to check them later to find out if I can vote without unvoting. I haven't read the bottom part until now. :-)

Basically this, along with win conditions mentioning "non-mafia", which suggests this is not a betrayal or rebellion, but the work of a separate opposing group. The combination of "non-[group]" and "inside job" screams "infiltration" to me.

So I was correct in my assumption/interpretation of it. Sorry about making you get lost in it Vitek :P

Are you trying to imply i'm not playing the game correctly?!? 0.o........:p
--------------------
If I read your reply right: 3/12(or even 4/12) isn't a majority, and imo it wasn't/isn't enough to warrant changing the terms around.

(People also like to say, if it ain't[too] broke, don't fix it.;))
For this argument...honestly I think we're spending too much time arguing over names and assuming that votes there should count for scumhunting. Gangsters vs. Thugs is fine, or we can run with Joe's system as it stands, Town is Mafia for this game, and the Mafia is labelled Town as he has flipped other things, so why not Town and Mafia?

Hate Day 1...never anything to analyse properly...I'm gonna Unvote Red_Baron, as I didn't even get a fun comment about my reason...

Sorta confused why Flubb brought up the claim thing, didn't seem to really be a reason to do so. JMich feels a bit suspicious for jumping on Vitek like he did, and Rod as well for his jumping into the fray as well. Again, that's part of my gut feeling.

Wasn't the reason just that I hadn't posted yet or something?

No :P It was that was with Red in your name you must have been covered in blood, and thus the killer :P

Thank goodness for TwilightBard - I was worried I was the only one who balked at that.

@flubbucket! Message repeats! Why did you suddenly start talking about role-claiming?

drennan might actually have a point about infiltration and inside jobs... but it doesn't make too much difference, practically speaking.
