Hi all

For years now I've been dying to know what the name of this game is. I'd really appreciate it if someone could give me a hand.

I remember it from seeing a friend playing it once or twice when I was about 10 years old. Here is what I remember:

Was a point and click game (pretty sure inventory was at the bottom of the screen).
Played on Windows 98 (before Win 2000 came out)
Had about 8-12 CDs. CDs were held in some kind of a portfolio case with I think 4 CDs on one side and 4 on the other.
Pretty sure the cover had some kind of a green blob. I don't think it was Feeble Files, though.
I remember one part of gameplay where he was coming up an elevator, the doors opened, and it was a mad scientist kind of lab setting.
Not 2D game like The Dig. Was 3D and I'm quite sure FMV based

That's all I remember

Phantasmagoria came out on 7 CDs or so...

The X-Files Game was also large, FMV based, and the logo is, well, blobby. ;)

Wow maybe it was X Files!! From few glances on google images it definitely matches my idea of what it was!

And I'll check that list for sure, too. Thanks!
Was it Ripper ?

The cover is green but it was only 6 cd's.

Edit: Oh, looks like you already found it.

Where can I find screenshots of this game? Google returns nothing but the cover and Jack the Ripper screenshots

If none of the already suggested games matches what you are looking for, give it a try at Mobygames list of games with live action sequences (link)

Hmm I don't see how it could be the X-Files though if we can rely on your description. That has no 3D but, similar to Gabriel Knight 2, has altered real life footage and imagery.

I know most FMV games (since I own nearly all of them) but your description rings no bells - either you're confusing several games or you played some more obscure game.

Ripper DOES seem the most likely choice, though. It has 6 CDs, a green thing on the cover, features 3D, but was also a DOS game!

It would help a huge amount if you could remember the setting.

Most likely I am confusing and mixing a few games together here. Sadly I was only about 10 years old at the time and only saw it once or twice. The only thing I really remember about the setting is the dark/sinister scientist lab setting after coming up an elevator.

But what stands out the most to me was the really cool box/cover. I'm sure it was portfolio style with half the CDs on one side and the rest on the other side. And the cover had a black background and subject was definitely green, and I want to say it was a living green jello blob monster

I took a look at the FMV list provided here and couldn't find that there, checked the games from 93-2000. So I must be mixing stuff up
