OK long story short, most of my EVE Online alliance has gone AWOL and im kinda bored with it. Instead of finding a new alliance/Corp im looking at other MMO's

The only other MMO's I have played that I can think of offhand is Fallen earth (now FtP) City of villains & Mythos (dead now i think)

Id prefer an active FtP that I can do stuff with a corp/guild but also play solo aswel.

Any advice you good folks can offer?

neither look like my thing im afraid, im not really into the shooter/racer looking aspect of darkwind and Perpetuum Online just looks weird to me Too much focus on RMT for my tastes

Star Trek Online and DC Universe look fun

Firefall is something like a Team Fortress 2 type game with a ton of PVE thrown in as well. Obviously there's leveling and crafting and other shit. You level your battle frames (the armored suits you wear into battle that give you your class abilities) so you don't have to do anything but switch out your frame if you'd like to switch roles between matches.

Everything is F2P now, you could literally play for months just trying out the big names:
Dungeons and Dragons Online
Lord of the Rings Online
Age of Conan
DC Universe Online
Lineage 2
Aion
and probably several other AAA MMOs that I'm forgetting (WOW doesn't have a valid F2P models, imo, not counting it, SWTOR may or may not have, I'm not clear on how limited some of the F2P restrictions actually make you).


There's a ton of MMO review sites (just google "mmo reviews"), I'm partial to http://mmohuts.com/ for their format.

I don't play much myself since the game went free-to-play (not that I played heavily before, but now it's even less), but have you looked at Star Wars: The Old Republic?

yes, though the focus at the moment is on PvE and teamwork. So far it looks like the best attempt on MMORPG shooter.

Just watched a video of this. Looks like fun; I'm quite tempted to give it a try.

If it changes your mind, it's a turn-based strategy game with a system to calculate the physics behind every move - from what I understand, it's basically Car Wars on the computer. You set your own pace, managing your own gang in a sandbox setting where external dangers like raiders are influenced by player actions. You can trade, hunt for pirates/traders, race/deathrace, fight in car combat arenas, or even pit your gang members against others. Permadeath keeps things interesting (and occasionally tragic).

I played this back when it was called Project Entropia, and I strongly recommend that people stay away from it. The idea is that you buy in-game currency with real money to fund your gameplay, which generally nets you a negative return - meaning that after a while, you have to buy more currency to keep going. If you're lucky enough to find a rare pelt, ore, etc. and sell it, you can trade your in-game currency back in for real money.
