The-Business: So what is GOG plotting? The web developer job ads provide no valuable information, but for the software developers:

Technical knowledge of popular operating systems: Windows, Mac OS X, Linux.

Proficiency in C++ with proven experience
Knowledge of distributed systems

Experience in implementing client-server / cloud solutions into apps or games.
Knowledge of as many of the following as possible: multiplayer services in games, voip

Experience in multi-platform development.
Experience in developing rich desktop applications heavily oriented on excellent UX.
Technical knowledge of popular operating systems: Windows, Mac OS X, Linux.

GOG client confirmed
The Linux requirement could mean everything: Linux games, streaming of Games to the desktop, Linux servers...

That they seem to use C++ for a cross platform client is more interesting.
Does this mean that Linux support could possibly make it to GOG soon? I am really pent up and need to spend hundreds of monies with GOG to show that I appreciate its support for Linux. I can't feel relief otherwise!
Oh, i'd love to apply, but i'm not moving to Warsaw, nuh-uh. ;)
You sure you dont need a dogsbody/gopher? I can swear in Polish if that helps

tinyE: Will you be recruiting at GDC Copper Harbor? I plan to attend that one.
avatar
Maighstir: Well, they'd likely need lodging if they plan to expand to that area. And that's your area of expertise, isn't it?
Yes, lodgings are my trade. I am a lodger. My name is Roger the Lodger. I arrange, design, and sell lodgings.

mondo84: For curiosity's sake I looked at the hiring announcement from March.

I wonder if any hirings were made since March and they're adding even more people, or if the same positions are open? It's not really relevant, though.

Good luck to applicants!
It is actually. If the same positions are still open, it could mean that (a) there wasn't much interest, (b) GOG couldn't/ didn't find any suitable fits or (c) a combination of (a) and (b).
New positions point to good things for GOG's future and thus us.
It's a pity I'm not near Köln next week, otherwise I'd have come to have a chat with you guys :D (Do you need tickets to get in? That might have been a hindrance :P).
With web developers in search here's hoping for forum rehash and new features! :D

Just to avoid speculation: we did hire some people recently, now we need more :-)

Wasn't there a list of people in the "Our thanks" page? Where did that go?

Here's to new people joining GOG stuff and fulfilling some of the requests on the wishlist - I think we all know which ones are meant by this.

Indeed, what happened to that column? Could it be another victim of the site updates?

Cool! Yea, sorry, I didn't mean to fuel speculation or anything. I was just curious and figured you guys hired people and were looking for even more.
Hopefully more web designers means the gamecards will be improved upon very soon. New releases were a lot more fun to look at before the recent changes ...
You're expanding, or just half of your staff is gone? ;P
Oh, look, floor plans: http://www.gdceurope.com/pdf/floorplans/2013/7-29-13.pdf Finally I can steal the Declaration of Independence.

Glad you're getting the word out about this! Just a few days ago I happened across the "Work for us" page. The game tester position caught my eye of course, but I'm pretty sure you would have chosen someone for that by now.

Hopefully some rights-to-classics holders will be around, and you'll have time to talk about, you know, their good old games coming to GOG. Or TET can bedazzle them during his speech.

de_Monteynard: Is there any chance for a video of TET's seminar to be published afterwards?
I wonder that myself.
