Will you be attending GDC in Cologne, Germany? That may be your chance to join the GOG.com Team!

GDC Europe is starting on Monday, August 19, and we'd like you to know that GOG.com will be there. You can find us at Booth 147--make sure to drop by and say "hi!". Or maybe you'll be one of those people who actually get to stick around much, much longer? We've recently posted a variety of job offers. In particular, we're looking to fulfill a variety of developer positions at our Warsaw, Poland office:

Senior Web Developer, PHP
Senior Web Designer
Web Graphic Designer
Lead Software Engineer
Senior Software Engineer, Desktop
Senior Software Engineer, Online

Are you any one of these, perchance? Then come, and join our DRM-free revolution! We offer a competitive salary, great working atmosphere, extensive health and sport activity packages, and help in relocating to the amazing city of Warsaw. You can visit our booth at any time during the event, or--if you're serious about landing one of these positions--you can even schedule a meeting with our charming HR specialist at work@gog.com.

That's not all of GOG.com-related attractions at GDC. Our Head of Marketing & PR Trevor Longino (also known as The Enigmatic T, the Voice of This Week on GOG, The Beheaded Man in The Hat, The Scourge of Carpathia, the--oh, you know who we mean) is also speaking at GDC in a session titled, PR Quest! The Adventure to Make Your Game a Success the GOG.com Way! at 14:30 (local time) on Monday, 19 August in Congress Saal 3. Join him, if you want to learn a bit more about GOG.com and our extravagant ways.

We hope to see you in Cologne!
Ooh it looks like GOG is expanding its team, that's exciting news and a sign of corporate health over there in Warsaw!

(unless a bunch of people have just walked out / have been sacked I suppose...)

mrking58: I would join GOG but I am under contract until the summer of 2015. Can you keep off from recruiting until then?
avatar
The-Business: Will you learn Polish in the next 2 years?
Erm I speak polish, I learnt it because I have a number of polish clients and speaking polish makes the job a whole lot easier
avatar
The-Business: The Linux requirement could mean everything: [...] streaming of Games to the desktop, Linux servers...
Both are unlikely, streaming goes quite heavily against their no-DRM stance, and developing server applications makes little use for "Experience in developing rich desktop applications heavily oriented on excellent UX."

The-Business: So what is GOG plotting? The web developer job ads provide no valuable information, but for the software developers:
Didnt they hire some of those a few months ago?. thought they were fixing the forums? :D

We do not require our employees to speak Polish. In fact we have number of people in our office that do not speak Polish at all. :)

The forum bugs have become too many and too strong, GOG needs new troopers to have a chance of stemming the tide, many defenders have already fallen.
Will you be recruiting at GDC Copper Harbor? I plan to attend that one.

Well, they'd likely need lodging if they plan to expand to that area. And that's your area of expertise, isn't it?

Sure, but I think there's a fishing tournament that same weekend so odds are everything in town is already booked.

Chamb:
So hope is not lost that you will release a video like this one. The suggestion aimed more at he should also do something if GoG would do for him (reserving a job) ;)

I wonder if these employee prefer to share theirs non-GOG time with expats or Poles.

Vestin: Out of curiosity: what is your field of expertise?
avatar
de_Monteynard: Social Sciences. More precisely, the EU from a politics/polity side of things (with a dash of policies mixed in-between). Don't get me wrong, a very interesting field, regardless of all the current talk about it and I enjoy my work on it very much.

However, GOG for me represents the type of company that many should aspire to and its work is for a computer enthusiast like myself the hot-spring from which greater things will arise.
And you think that's a problem? I have BA in European Studies (which is almost exactly the same what you described) and yet I work here. In tech department, even :P

I know I can't speak it :P

I'm guessing you have been smarter than me and have invested into skills other than those of academic nature. In either case, the current job offering isn't something where I could present the skills required.
I can perform about half those jobs, as they are not far removed from my current work as a software developer. This in spite of the fact that I went to college for Biology (with a minor in Cinematography). And it's tempting to get the hell out of America. But I do like my current job, and I'm probably a bit too old now for you lot. Still, a pleasant dream to labour as a GOGnard in the mines of software gems...

For curiosity's sake I looked at the hiring announcement from March.

I wonder if any hirings were made since March and they're adding even more people, or if the same positions are open? It's not really relevant, though.

Good luck to applicants!
