How well do you know GOG.com?

GOG.com 5th birthday celebration continues, and we came up with some fun activities essential to every nerd party in the universe. Namely, we want to play some trivia with you! There will be prizes, of course, because there have to be gifts in a birthday celebration. Since it is our party, you get to keep the gifts! We wouldn't have it any other way. But, just to make it more fun, you'll have to put some effort into getting them. For the next couple of days (let's say: until Sunday), we'll post a daily activity for you. A quiz, a puzzle, some trivia--you know: fun stuff. Each day you'll get a chance to prove your gaming knowledge and familiarity with GOG.com for a chance to get some free games. Our activity of choice today: a GOG.com useless knowledge quiz, brought to you by Pictie the Unhappy, our very own media representative!

15 out of 15, wish me good luck in a draw. :p :D

Somehow I got them all right and managed to send it in fairly early, fingers crossed...

G-Doc: Here are the answers:

So, how old are we?
c) 1.578e+8 seconds
avatar
InkPanther: Are you sure about this answer? Google calculator says that 1.578e+8 seconds is 1 826.38889 days, and since I''ve been here for 1845 days (according to number in My Account), something is off.

/Edit: grammar. ;F
I struggled with this one too; but 1.578e+8 is exactly 5 years in seconds. Now since it's been a number of days since GOG's exact origin date (be it beta or open) that answer is technically not up to the second correct but is the closest to the 5 year mark.

G-Doc: Which game in GOG.com's catalog is the oldest?
a) Zork
avatar
Teviko604: It's moot at this point, but I would argue that there is an alternate correct answer for this. The above answer is certainly true in regards to the original game releases (Zork was the earliest of the three). However, since these quizes are supposed to be dealing with GOG's catalog of games, you could answer this question based on the release dates of the versions offered in the GOG catalog. In that scenario, the package that included King's Quest 1 was released in 1986 (per the game page) while the package that included Zork 1 was released in 1989, thus making KQ1 the oldest game in GOG's catalog.
They asked which game is the oldest, not which catalog entry is the oldest, so...
edit: checked my answers and i actually got a few wrong. ah well. :(

I made two mistakes. Question #10 & #13.
I answered King's Quest 1 and Legend of Grimrock, same as mentioned previously.
I relied my answers on GOG.com site too much....my mistake. :/
Well...I got nothing for my time except experience and a little knowledge.

Impressive, considering there are only 15 questions. ;)

I knew Planescape was the answer to 14, but somehow managed to submit "b" as my answer. I would have been particularly annoyed, but I had 1. wrong anyway.

Don't feel too bad -- I made the same mistake as well, assuming 20 questions without looking back at the original quiz! :-)
I think i have 20/20 too. But I wasn't that fast.

blakstar: Oh well -- got 18 out of 20. Close, but no cigar :-(
Haha,..same here. (Btw: it's 13 out of 15) ;o)

Err... yeah -- about that: look two posts above yours :-)
I adored your anagram competition, but you really dropped the ball on this one.

You can't be younger than the difference to your birthday, numb-nuts.

That intro of two contradicting statements included in the first two questions plus lots of following chaos really makes me think, if Nolan is going to make a fourth installment with a GOG.employee as The Riddler.

I'm afraid all answers with 1:a and 1:c must be expelled from entering this one, if you don't want to lose your credibility. Neg-rep me now if you haven't done it already.

There were at least two closed betas, one for the press, one for random people.

No Zork I in the answer?

There were many more shut-downs...

The page with the title 'Witcher 2: Assassins Of Kings, The ...' supplies the release date of another version.

National (?) Aviation Day?

It's 35k+, not +35k!

The DOS-Version of Zork I was released in 1982. 1980 was Apple II. Are you sure, that that's the version in your catalogue?
I got all of the answers correct, and sent it 58 minutes after GOG posted this quiz.

Hope I'll win a new (old) game :)
GOG, How about if you post some statistics? Take for example how many correct anwers submitted for the draw. I'd like to know how much our chance to win the draw. How many correct versus incorrect answers in percentage...something like that, please?
:)
I won!

This is so great!!!
