We're giving away 100 games a day to our users to celebrate our 5th birthday!
For the last 5 years we've been doing our best to bring the best games in history to your home computers. Now, we're celebrating our birthday, and we want you--our users--to have a blast! That's why for the next five days we'll be giving away 100 games a day via our different channels (the forums, social media, YouTube). The details of each giveaway will be revealed on day to day basis, so make sure to drop by daily and see what are we up to.
Today, we've planned something special for our long-time users, and it's all going to go down right here, right now--in the forums. We'd like to honor the people who have been with us the longest. If you think you're one of these people, post a comment in the forum thread below. Include the number of days you're on GOG.com (just upload a screenshot of the "Days on GOG.com" of your Account Info Page--please include that number in your post as well, to make our job a little easier, thanks!) and give us a one-sentence statement on what was it exactly that made you register with GOG.com. The first 100 users with the most time since registering will be sent a $9.99 gift-code.
You have time until tomorrow, that's Tuesday, October 1, at 2:59PM GMT to enter the giveaway, as at that time we'll be moving to another communications channel with a new set of rules. So, GOG.com old-timers, show off how long have you been with us!
Have the winners of the codes already been notified? Anyone know?

whodares2: Holy smoke. You have me beat but not by a lot. 1845 for me.

Good to see you anyway. What have you been doing to keep yourself busy? Do you write for anyone currently? Anything upcoming?

I let my subscription to PCGamer lapse when you stopped writing for them. I loved your column. Reading your opinions and analyses reminded me of when I used to discuss literature critically with my English professor.

Anyway, I just wanted to say thank you for all of your work and for enlightening a fellow RPG fan for so long.

Cheers.

Desslock: Thanks, man. In fairness, my GoG start date is unfair, as I had pre-launch access to help them iron out the kinks.

Not doing any regular game writing these days. I'm going to help out the Quarter to Three guys by contributing to a few articles in coming weeks, generally talking about older games. I'm also doing a Tom vs Bruce vs Desslock for those guys.

Appreciate the kind words -- hasn't been the best of years for RPG fans, but that offers some opportunities to get caught up on the classics available here.
Well as one of the oldest Goglodytes around, come visit a bit more frequently - so sayeth the forum Momo ;-p

Thank you for letting me know. I'll keep my eyes open for the VS. as well as on the Quarter to Three site.

Very true, the choices for RPGs were not spectacular this year. I'm super excited for Witcher 3 and I'm currently, patiently, passing the time with Witcher 2 EE and Divine Divinity. Are there any other up and comers that may have your eye?

Anyway, I know you must be a busy person so I won't try to monopolize your time. May you always roll a 20 when needed.

Cheers.
Hi! Just a quick update: we're still processing the entries, so I would ask you for some more patience. I'm sorry this is taking so long, but this particular giveaway has proven to be quite challenging to handle, and we wouldn't want to make any mistakes.

This isn't just a quick SQL statement to find the 100 oldest members who've posted in this thread?

Divinity Original Sin, for sure - extremely high hopes for that one. Potentially Wasteland 2, although I have some reservations about Fargo and team, but I like what I've seen to date. Further down the line in 2014, Project Eternity.

I actually think the South Park RPG could work out well, especially if you like the show -- I trust Obsidian to put some decent RPG elements into it, so it's not just a choose-your-own adventure.

It doens't sound THAT easy to me. Consider that a lot of people here posted AFTER the contest date was over! :)

... then you limit the SQL to only check posts that happened before the cutoff time. Still pretty easy.
I think the problem is that they have to factor both time on the site AND post order, because it's the first 100 posts with the most time, which would be a real pain to calculate.

Finding an SQL statement to verify the posted dates with the help of the attached screenshots is going to be a little bit more complicated though...

The post date and users' join dates are in the database.

The only slow thing is if you really want to check the oldest 100 manually to make sure they posted a screenshot of their account page... but even then they said to put the number in your post, which isn't necessary using SQL. In truth, the screenshot isn't needed either.

(Not that it matters. They're certainly going to do things however they choose...)
