I might well give this a try later on the week. Sounds interesting. Look forward to seeing your work.

As for the deathkitten issue: I'm slowly beginning to wonder if a permaban is the only reasonable solution.

Perhaps... a formal warning from one of the admins wouldn't go amiss and... I suppose a (forum) ban might be the only thing left to do in the end.

I would prefer that too, though I dislike deathkitten. It's hard to like someone who's barely participated in a community at all over the last 4 years and then comes in and demands that everything work like she wants it to. Still I don't like overly harsh reactions you from various forums around the net and GOG is largely devoid of that (which is why it's such a pleasant place, we can make of it what we want) and I wouldn't want to see that as a first or even second response to anyone, even deathkitten.

On topic, OP, you obviously have some drive in this arena. Why don't you work on improving whichever downloader has the best initial feature set? I think it's cool as hell people do this. I get home from work and the last thing I want to do is program. I wish that wasn't the case, I used to really like doing it.

GOG never permabans anyone. It's an empty threat, given the history of trolls on this place.

Who? I've been here for ages and I've never known anyone to be kicked off.
Has any from those community-driven downloaders following feature:
1) generate kind of ‘information file’ for games you downloaded earlier and tell you that say, new extra or new version of a game appeared
2) make use of that earlier generated file – that you don’t have to keep downloaded games to make such comparison?

thx

DrIstvaan: I guess you didn't find an answer for that because that'd destroy the whole point of using that protection system.
Anyway, to the best of my knowledge, the cleaning peon is the author of this post.

SirPrimalform: Unfortunately, his account has now been deleted... We need some new questions.
I have taken this question out... all remeining questions should be easy to solve ;)

Unfortunately, none I am aware of at the moment... But everyone can feel free to use the FileHash Database on the Wiki to integrate in a downloader :)
