Watson! I have deduced something incredible--come and see! It’s evident that GOG.com is offering Sherlock Holmes: Secret of the Silver Earring for just $3.99 for the next 24 hours!

The deduction, my dear fellow, is most elementary: observe the slight scrape of mud on that man’s shoe, the color of the feather in that elderly woman’s hat, and the way that man in the red checked shirt is obsessively checking his pocket watch. What does that tell you? It’s obvious! It’s the third Wednesday of the month; GOG.com is running another Gaming Gem special sale, of course!

I have reasons to suppose that you and I, Watson, are the only ones that can solve this bizarre occurrence of the Silver Earring. Someone has been murdered and the killer is somewhere here at the Sherringford Hall mansion. In solving a problem of this sort, the grand thing is to be able to reason backward. There are fifty who can reason synthetically for one who can reason analytically--and please let me say that I have the utmost confidence you’re up for the challenge of assisting me in this. Naturally, you must be familiar with how the modern instruments of investigation work--the gameplay here is entirely mouse-driven, using a point-and-click interface, and inventory system. You know my methods. Apply them.

Oh, and Watson! Before you leave to discover the Secret of the Silver Earring for only $3.99 on GOG.com, bear in this in mind: the special 60% discount on Sherlock Holmes: Secret of the Silver Earring is available only until Thursday 22 March, 11.59 AM GMT.
Anyone else notice that on the review pages there is a spam message that has been sitting there since 2010?

That's what they mean by hidden gems!

PMIK: You just stole 10 seconds of my life reading that. I want them back!
From this I can deduce that you're a slow reader.

Well hidden, I suppose, lol.
I remember seeing this in stores a couple of times, usually it sells for around 5-10 pounds, so in this case, for 4 Dollars, this is a great deal, considering the compatibility and extras

ZPavelZ: Never heard of this one. Is it good?

TheEnigmaticT: It's a gaming gem! By definition, it's a gem! ;)
And the definition of a gaming gem is that the game is not selling well? ;-)

I haven't been able to decide about whether I should get this or not for a while. Today's Gem sale sealed the deal. After all, not all games have to be 60 hours of gameplay, right? There is merit in an adventure game you can finish (and enjoy) over the course of a weekend.
A couple of quid?

Bought,

And what if someone likes no gems, but for instance prefers potatoes? Gaming potatoes, by any chance?

Actually, the definition I use when I select them is, "A game that doesn't get much attention on the site, but which is still a good game." Basically, something that I think you'd enjoy picking up for a couple bucks even though you've never heard of it.

I see we stopped including our explanatory text in the beginning of the gaming gem promos; I guess we should put it back. ;)
From my humble point of view, this is an excellent adventure game which is worth being played through, despite the fact it is rather slow spaced. The problem is that it doesn't stand comparison to Sherlock Holmes the Awakened (especially the remastered edition). After having already played The Awakened, the Silver Earring may be disappointing to the gamer who expects something in the same line.
I meant "slow paced", not "slow spaced"

For some reason unknown, for quite a long while now I haven't been able to edit my posts neither to answer others posts. Some kind of bug, I wonder if it also happen to some others...
Oh god what a mess I made... Sorry for that.

I edited nothing (no button for that), just wrote a new message and it incorporated to the previous post.

Probably the worst of the series. I still remember the time sequence stealth act, where you are running in a forest. Mediocre at its best
