Max Payne 3 (PC) - not as personal a story as the previous two games, but Max still got a lot of development.
The best game i finished in 2012 is either Indiana Jones and the fate of Atlantis or Curse of Monkey Island.
Chex Quest was pretty decent for a cereal based marketing device. There were some irritating parts in episode 3 though.

And Ys Origin with Yunica (on normal) and again with Hugo (on very easy, for story). Hugo's story was a lot better than Yunica's version. Going to take a bit of a break on it and then try again with Toal for the canon version of the story. Main problem with the game is that the gameplay is you're expected to play through three times for the whole story, but the gameplay is pretty much the same each time with different characters with the exceptions of bosses.

Lunar Flight (no way of actually completing the game, but I got 41/41 achievements)
Metro 2033
Alan Wake's American Nightmare
Metro 2033. Pretty fun game. I had a few problems with the game (the way the difficulties work is just weird, and I still don't understand the gas mask filter system), but overall it was pretty good.
Just finished Lord of the Rings:War in the North. Wow, what a good game. Pure Hack and slash, but it was pretty damned fun. Game was beautiful with some extremely well done environments, nice looking armors, good character/creature models, etc.

It did have some issues with clunky bit here and there but overall it was really well done. What I really find intriguing is the bits of story they threw in between the different chapters. If they'd gone more towards an traditional RPG with this than an action hack and slash, man they could have made a kick-ass RPG. Really felt a lot like Tolkien's Middle Earth and with some solid roleplay elements, this game would have been stellar.

As it stands though, I'll recommend this one for those that enjoy an action RPG. I had a blast with it.

Good to see somebody else besides me enjoyed the game.
Just got through Uncharted 1 and Uncharted: Golden Abyss within a day of each other. Given how long it often takes me to get through games (my PS3 trophies show me playing the first game on and off over the past four years), this is a helluva coincidence.
Finished my Christmas gift from GOG, and I must say it was an absolute blast. I've never played a Build Engine game before, and Duke Nukem 3D was an amazing introduction. The game played really well, it was intuitive, I never really felt lost. Despite feeling like something out of the 90s, it didn't feel dated. Definitely one of the best games I've played this year.

So far:
Just Cause 2
Cave Story+
Area 51
Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit
XIII
Star Wars: Jedi Academy
STALKER: Shadow of Chernobyl
Metro 2033
Deus Ex: Human Revolution
Mirror's Edge
Thief II: The Metal Age
Alan Wake
Deus Ex: Human Revolution - The Missing Link
Alan Wake's American Nightmare
Unreal Gold (including Return to Na Pali)
Dark Messiah of Might and Magic
Alpha Protocol
Brothers in Arms: Road to Hill 30
Spec Ops: The Line
Duke Nukem 3D: Atomic Edition
aaaaand... add Defender's Quest: Valley of the Forgotten to the list!

In under 7 hours, I of course only beat the game in normal mode and didn't even reach the level 20 cap with my main character. So, yes, the story is over... but not the fun! I must admit, I'm not so big on tower defense games, they quickly get on my nerves. But Defender's seems to be the exception to that rule!

Very nice art direction, funny and interesting story, challenging action... I did indeed get what was promised by the devs! And that's a game I won't uninstall soon, and instead I'll go back to it periodically, to try to finish it the "proper" way and maybe even to start a Newgame+, a thing i almost never done with a game!

43. Sonic Adventure 2 HD- PS3; 12/20/2012 6.5/10- I played the dreamcast version of this game to death (although I never finished the LAST story of the game as I found it to be far too confusing & difficult.... my dreamcast has long since broke & the disc itself is scratched to pieces from the insane amount of time spent with it, so when Isaw the HD version on sale for only $4 & 60 some cents, I felt that it would be well worth the money if for the nostalgia rush alone... thing is... this is one of those games that is better left in your memory. The amount of boring shooting stages far exceeds the number I remember being in the game... while the number of awesome speed stages are fewer & further between than I remember. Oh... & the story & voice acting is laughably bad... of course that is to be expected.
Finally managed to beat Torchlight on Very Hard Hardcore, making liberal use of the Shared Stash which was stuffed with good found by past failures. Was level 41 when I finally fought the final boss - probably playing it too safe - but the battle still took forever. God damn that guy has a lot of HP!
