IanM: is this confirmed as an official change now, or is it still maybe just a bug or screw up?
I'd say its permenant

Since we are not talking about new games but previously purchased games, I don't see how it could be a bug.

You underestimate the power of Glitchgate. :)

But aye, seems like it's a real change. For the worse.

IAmSinistar: Shame I couldn't get another copy, as my blue coins will probably go to waste now, unless I can find something for 1333 or less to splurge on.

I also hate their complete lack of information about what games are updated. I just combed through my library and discovered they had added manuals for several games. Probably some of the games themselves are updated, but hell if I know which ones.

[...]
As I don't see a filter to search for games based on their blue coins value, your best bet would be to look for a DRM-free game on sale, either now or later.

And yes, just noticed the manuals thing myself.

Methinks I'll have another round of attic cleaning soon.

Sachys: I had this issue the other week. Tried to redownload Gray Matter, and it was replaced by a steam key without warning. I do use steam, so have managed to make use of it, but its a little unsettling. As a result I'm downloading everything I have on there.
Thanks for the heads-up! I've written a complaint about Gray Matter, and I'd encourage everyone who feels cheated by this move to do the same. I do use Steam, and I occasionally buy Steam keys from GG, but that does not automatically mean I'm fine with them replacing the product I paid for without warning. I bought Gray Matter from GG because it was DRM-free. If it had been Steam only at the time, I would have skipped the offer and waited for it to appear on GOG (as it ultimately did).
The thing to do is to complain to the attorney general's office or whatever the equivalent is where you live. There's no way on earth that this is legal in most places, despite what they might claim in their licensing agreement.

I paid for games that weren't infected with Steam and they have no legal right to change that without compensating me for the loss of my game.

I did a search on DRM-free and then sorted by Best Price. That's how I found The I of the Dragon, though it is also a sale item. Also how I discovered that World Train Royale is free (already had it, but they let me add a second giftable copy to my account).

Think I'm going to pick up The I of the Dragon and be done with GG. Might also get Archon Classic off my wishlist there too, even though it never seems to go on sale.
nevermind sorted.

IAmSinistar: Looks like the only game worth grabbing with my meager blue coins now is The I of the Dragon. Any opinions on this?
I like it. Some levels are quite hard (especially the ones where you're not playing as dragon), but if you're patient, you can do it. Don't remember any bugs, I enjoyed this game and can recommend it. ;)

Cheers, I'm getting it. :)

I don't use gamersgate, but the site always looked a bit of a mess to me. Bugs, games disappearing from the library, poor execution of site updates, all sounds a bit familiar...

If this is deliberate, removing DRM free from downloads of purchased games, then that is unforgivable and I won't ever buy from those guys. Hopefully it is just a cock up though.

IAmSinistar: Well, they've lost my future patronage now. I'll make sure I have downloads of everything I want from there and then I'm done with them. Guess I'll give the converted keys away, as a sign of my gratitude to them.

Thankfully I have the so-far affected titles on GOG too.
I am Groot!
More than 3 weeks ago, there was an Arcen sale on GamersGate, where all their titles were converted to Steam keys. Mind you, though, I noticed this practice earlier when Explodemon had the "New" tag on GamersGate some months ago, which made me scratch my head in confusion. "Wasn't the game already on GamersGate? What do you mean, new?" Alas, it was already available indeed, but now it's "newly" available in the form of a Steam key.

This specific one is DRM-Free, but make no mistake, though; Topware love their proprietary DRM. They love it so much that it's in every game that says "Other DRM". They love it so much that they don't offer a single Steam key and prefer to instead use their own DRM on GamersGate.

Coelocanth: I am Groot!
Yes you are. And as an actual fan of Rocket Raccoon from his original comic book days, I'm itching to kill me some clowns.
Are the Arcen games (A Valley Without Wind / AI War) all going Steamworks? AVWW talks about a 1.2 version, but GG doesn't appear to have a way to download it.
