CD Projekt RED invites you to digital godhood.

The Witcher 2: Enhanced Edition stands out with its complexity, depth and organic feel. Such an incredibly life-like realm--now, you too can become its lord creator!

Our friends at CD Projekt RED have prepared a set of tools that will allow modders of any skill to access the creative potential that up until now was only accessible to the creators of The Witcher 2: Enhanced Edition, one of the most acclaimed modern role-playing title, known for it's powerful vision and deep, mature gameplay. The suite known as the REDkit has entered the Open Beta phase, and is available as a free Witcher 2 upgrade via its newly-published official website--or if you own the game here, on GOG.com, from within your account, in the game's download section. The site also holds an extensive Wiki manual that will help you start modding away, a quick guide for installation and your first steps with the kit, forums to connect you with its other users, and a news section to keep you updated on new developments. Last, but not the least, the REDkit's official site is also a hub for exchanging your creations, allowing everyone to download, play, and experience the worlds created by modders. There's even a user-created mod introducing a whole new adventure already featured and ready to download. Are you excited yet? Now watch the trailer below:

REDkit announcement trailer

With the addition of REDkit, CD Projekt RED continues on its course to do exceptional things in role-playing games development. Let's hear from the studio's head, Adam Badowski:

"For CD Projekt RED, RPGs are all about telling amazing stories," said Adam. "We want to give players the power to tell the same kind of non-linear, branching stories that made The Witcher games so popular. Our fans have helped us for years to make our games the best they can be, and REDkit is part of embracing our community as a partner in game development."

With a bold statement like that, the tool itself has much to live up to. Wondering what kind of creative powers can this suite actually unleash? Let's look at REDkit's key features:

• Intuitive tools developed for all would-be storytellers and game designers
• Complex and user-friendly terrain tools, including the SpeedTree foliage system
• Utilize the astonishing graphics and visuals that power The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings
• Create a realistic and dynamic day and night cycle in a few clicks
• Implement non-linear stories and quests with a unique quest system that allows player decisions to impact the game world and plot
• Build believable characters, NPCs, and entire communities and set their interactions with the player
• Place dialogue cameras automatically or manually to create a movielike experience

Are you ready to ascend to digital godhood to create worlds and shape the fates of many lifelike characters, crafting unique multi-layered adventures for everyone to enjoy and admire? If you already own a copy of The Witcher 2: Enhanced Edition, there's nothing stopping you. If not, you can get yours on GOG.com, for only $19.99. Now it's worth more than ever!

It is if I choose English as the installer language. T__T
I don't see it, and I also don't have any language options.
Is it because I have the Australian version?

Speaking of which, when our government finally gets around to changing our ridiculous classification system (which should be soon since all the states have agreed now I think), will GOG let us access the original again, and remove that irritating (AUS) in the title (and also make Witcher 2 properly appear as "already owned")?

Silverhawk170485: I'm wondering how long it will take until we can play the game with nude Triss ... I think not so long. xD

RafaelLopez: This just reminded me, some time in the past there were a couple of "hot coffee" mods for Fallout 3, using the hooker from Megaton (and perhaps other characters). I guess it's game on now, surely this kind of thing will appear on Witcher 2 too right? Oh yeah, even unmodded this game already has sex scenes with Triss.
To make something clear: I didn't meant that I need a nude mod but nude mods are mostly the first mods created for any game. ^^
Updates like this not only insure that the game will live on for a long period of time but it also adds huge value to the game, can't wait to see what the community comes up with

Right, you didn't want. Err.. what's wrong with nude mods again?
A damn nice gesture to release the devkit like that for free. Chances are that this also will prolong the life of TW2 quite a bit, just like the unreal editor made people able to make tons of new content for UT99, 2004.

Thumbs up, CDPR!
Nexus now supports Witcher 2 mods: http://witcher.nexusmods.com//?

Me too. I was quite amaze with the first Witcher and what mods and additional adventures people came up with - my favourite one was Witcher XMas - lots of very dry humor in this one!

Nothing but I didn't want to look like a pervert if some women are present here. ;)
I would love to see this turn into a commercially available engine, a moderately priced (of free if possible) alternative to UDK/Unity.

G-Doc: From the official CDP RED newsletter:

REDkit gives modders of all skill levels the tools, they need to tell non-linear tales full of branching plots, believable characters and far-reaching consequences for player actions. Without learning to program or wrangling with opaque editors, game creators can use the top-quality art and assets from The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings or import their own, as well as intuitive tools for environment creation, to craft their own unique role-playing adventures.
Oh, lol. I read monsters instead of modders...
Great release, I won't have time nor skill to do modding but I'm sure plenty out there would love this.
I bet the code base for the modding tool is going to be used for the Witcher 3 when it comes out (but perhaps with different content), so I guess it makes sense to get it out there now, get people finding the bugs and then Witcher 3 can come out from day 1 with a modding tool. Wonder if I'm on the money or not.
Well it's going to take some getting used to, and there are a few issues that need to be addressed, worked out or have some sort of workaround for. But this is a tool I can work with. Hopefully I can have something worthy to show in 3-6 months. I wonder if GOG will need a seperate thread just for Witcher 2 Mods.
YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEES! Finally!

Thank you CD Projekt! :)
Awesome i been looking for this for many months.

thank you very much

Got it already a few days ago and I have myself a sky and a sun. Go me. Now I need to figure out how to make vegetation and put textures on the area so I can make nice landscapes. Then I need to figure out how I can test play walking around and I'll be ranked as beginner modder.

I have no intention of making a whole adventure but who knows. I applied to do voice acting but not sure if I am voice acting material
