It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).
We suggest you upgrade newer and better browser like: Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Opera

Just wanted to let you guys know in advance - in the coming weeks we will introduce an update to the Downloader. The update will fix several issues, most notably random crashes and login problems.

At the same time we will stop supporting the old Downloader (the second one - versions 0.9.x), and will do our best to inform people that they should migrate to the new and improved version.

So if you're still using the old one, get the newest version here.

Isn't this a bit premature?

Last couple times I tried the new one it didn't stop downloading when it was done. I'm using Win 7 64 and it had some sort of .net exception. Unfortunately, I couldn't tell it to stop and verify the files and it didn't do that on its own. The beta version itself wouldn't even run.
i get the .net exception error pretty often in the stable non beta 3.0.25.0 as well.
same here, constantly receiving the .net exception error so have been using the older downloader for larger files
Small question... in the screenshot of the downloader, there is a bar at the top which shows game updates, forum posts,... I cannot find such option in the downloader. How to enable this?

Thanks

There is no option, the bar should show up if you have any unread forum replies or PMs (or any downloaded game has updates, but I'm quite sure that hasn't seen any use yet).

It should appear automatically in the Downloader around a few minutes after receiving a forum reply or a PM.

Since, currently, the 0.9 downloader works much more reliably than the 3.0 or 3.1 downloader (where do these numbers come from?) You should not discontinue the 0.9 downloader until you get a confirmation from your customers that the new software is meeting the service level of the existing tool.

I agree, although I assume that there's something about the set ups of those of us that are having problems which aren't typical. That being said, until it works reliably, they shouldn't pull the older version.

Agree with jsjrodman and hedwards, especially since the new downloader does not work with Wine in Linux. The "old" one was working fine without problems for me. Sad to see good things come to an end.
I agree about keeping the 0.9.x as well since the new downloader and the beta always crash on statrup for me

Since the new one is built on .NET it might be possible to get it running under Mono. I haven't had any luck, but I'm not the wizard I wish I was. It might be that Mono's support of .NET 3.5 isn't good enough yet.

You people can really please. I can´t log in in either version, 3.0.25 and 0.9.1224. Why? Because old one is discontinued and the other is working like perpetum mobile in Newton physics! In the new version, it hadn´t imported any before downloaded game, nor I could launch game installer by clicking on game icon. Whats more, it jumped periodicly returning net framework error. Now I can´t even loggin to it.
The support told me, that new version of downloader with fixes will be here soon.
So please imagine my current mood (yes, you have it right I am quite angry right now) when I read that I have to wait WEEKS before it will be fixed!

I can only add it is even more irritating as my Witcher 2 update (9GB no less!) could not install through some error and I want to dowload my back up copy to reinstall game.

VERY disappointed in the new downloader. I spent all of yesterday afternoon, night, and this morning DLing Assassin's Creed. I had several .NET errors and other crashes that drew out the process by several additional hours. The lack of an estimated download timer is also annoying.

BUT the wost part was when the DL finished, it merely compiled the file and did not automatically check for errors and re-DL any broken parts, as advertised, nor did I have the option to install from the client. I ran the installer manually and it turned out that my DL was corrupt (probably happened during the many, many crashes). I re-opened the DL client but there was no option to re-DL the broken bits. Almost 20 hours of dedicated downloading and I had nothing. The fact that this was the most money I'd ever spent on a GOG game just adds insult to injury.

Terrible idea dumping the 0.9 downloader, that may have been a beta on paper but it was a million times more reliable than this new piece of garbage.

I'm running Win 7 64 bit with the latest version of .NET installed.
