jamyskis: Aside from declining sales figures, daily deals/inclusions in indie bundles are often motivated by an upcoming expansion pack/DLC. Such tactics are designed to appeal to the completionist urges of certain gamers.

Arteveld: Yeah, that's how i got Tropico 4. It pissed me off at first, but i was the only to blame really. But how do we make sure a certain edition is the 'final' one, and the game is 'done'?

Though, the "diamond" and "gold" editions was a pretty standard CDP term for the be all end all complete editions, DoW was an exception as it later turned out. [i just checked, the DoW was marked as "gold collection"], three dvd cases and a few booklets bound in a neat cardboard box.
Didn't Atari/Bioware also do it with Neverwinter Nights? Pretty sure I saw a different box for NWN every time I traveled to the US.
"Complete editions"? Yogi Berra once said "it ain't over 'till it's over".
I'm not saying no but since I got the original game along with 4 DLCs for 5 bucks it would feel wrong to get another DLC for 20/17 $. I'm aware that this DLC is much larger then previous ones (1.3 GB vs 4-5 MB) but still...

I wholeheartedly concur with this view.

Hm, that's where i got the "diamond edition" from, CDP was handling the game in Poland, and DE was the first "complete" edition [from what i know]. And that's the only one i know beside the original boxed version of NWN. CDP kinda specialized in releasing complete editions, at least from what i saw on the shelves [gold, diamond, classics collection etc]. I was really surprised to see a "gold collection" bundle that turned out not to be complete.

undeadcow: Curiously is The Japanese Incentive a stand-alone expansion? The game page doesn't say anything about requiring Omerta... but maybe that should be self-evident.
No, it requires the original game, Omerta: City of Gangsters, to play. The notice should be showing up any minute now. Sorry about the mix up.

You need to wait several years, until the game is definitely abandoned, in the process paying much less then you would pay otherwise.

I personally after CK II DLC avalanche and EU III Complete and Completer editions am not touching EU IV even with ten foot pole until they start working on EU 5.
So what is with all the hate against DLC? You don't want it, don't buy it, no? Unless it's a integral part of the story (ending, major plot relevant character) I don't really get all the hate.

Looking at the rating its more something against the game.

I bet a 9,99 gog that the poor rating is solely because of the DLC's. Just look back at the threads when the first piece of DLC got around...

I usually do that, thought it would be nice to hear "we're done with this one". ;)

Even "complete" is not complete anymore? Geez. Bloody marketing.
