Aliasalpha: And to be blunt I don't think it was worth what GOG were asking, awful game
I was so tempted to buy it at GG during the Halloween sale, for co-op purposes. Thankfully, I saw a co-op LP of it on Youtube that saved me 5000 blue coins.

Gundato: Actually, I think it has more to do with both of them wanting to make money off OFP.

Codemasters wants OFP to be plastered everywhere because they made OFP2.
BiS wishes they could have OFP plastered everywhere, because they made the second and third OFP.

Unfortunately, Codemasters owns the name.

So basically, while I doubt BiS would complain about getting more money for OFP, they would be advertising for the game that Codemasters kept saying was 'the true sequel to OFP".
If BiS is making money from the game, why should they be concerned on Codemasters saying it's the true sequel to OFP? It would be something like Bethesda/interplay with Fallout 1-2 and Fallout 3.

Aliasalpha: Operation flashpoint (pulled I suspect because BIS & Codemasters are childish dicks and can't get along even to mutually make money), Obscure (I think because of copyright issues on the awful song in the intro) and TOCA Racing (I think pulled because of car licencing issues), those are all I know of
Argh!!!!!! I hope it doesn´t happen with Carmageddon. I remeber that the intro had a fear factory theme!!.

Roman5: I would LOVE to buy and play OFP or Obscure but because they are not available to buy - I cannot purchse them and must resort to piracy
Sigh. Here we go again. No you don't have to resort to piracy. For one, just don't pirate and do without. For another, buy the game, legally: http://www.amazon.com/OPERATION-FLASHPOINT-GAME-THEYEAR-ED-pc/dp/B0007VHHBW/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1290023546&sr=8-5

Edit: I spent as much time finding a legal version as it would take to find a warez version.

It's worth noting that if you bought a game before its removal you can still access all of its downloads and other material as if nothing had happened.

If GOG ever has another "going away" sale--as they did for TOCA 3 and Colin McRae Rally--you can grab that game and have it forever (even if you don't even download it before the deadline).

Not really. Interplay (effectively) aren't making singleplayer Fallout games anymore.

BiS ARE making "OFP" games, they just call them "Armed Assault" these days. Whereas Codemasters made an OFP2 that they repeatedly called "the sequel to Operation Flashpoint" and "From the people who made Operation Flashpoint".

So while BiS might like the moneys, they would effectively be promoting their competition, which is generally a bad move.

Cool, you seem pretty good at this. Find me a legitimate copy of Sirius Software's 'Way Out'. It's the first ray caster maze game that I'm aware of. Wolf3D in 1982.

While you're at it, how about California Pacific Ultima. The later Origin Systems releases don't count as they are a totally different program. I could do without, but who wouldn't want the father of the CRPG and JRPG genres?

BTW, my budget is $75 for Way Out (Apple 2 version please) and $500 for CP Ultima. Ziplock bags not necessary.

Is it asking too much too own our own culture? :(
Wolf3d for the mac would be nice to have too. : )

Why? Was it really that different from the IBM compatible version that's now freely available? Not trolling, genuinely curious. I know that some of the console versions are different, swapping sweat for blood and changing the Hitler portraits.

The Mac version had very different clearer sprites and support for more resolutions than the main dos one. And it's very difficult to find too.

Ah, I figured it was more than just being the Mac version.

Not sure if you're being serious (not Sirius) or sarcastic, but no joy on either one. Maybe eBay...

And sorry for my earlier disgruntled attitude. It just frustrates me that a very affordable and legal copy of O:FP is so easy to find with a basic search yet someone assumes that the only way to get it is through warez. FWIW, I bought the item I linked because it has an add-on that my original version (and upgrades) doesn't. Works like a charm and the price is good.
