Sci-Fi? Fantasy? Excellent RTS in your favorite flavor!

Real-Time Strategy fans, here's a yummy deal for you: Total Annihilation Series, that is the futuristic Total Annihilation: Commander Pack and fantasy-flavored Total Annihilation: Kingdoms (+ Expansion), is available up to 70% off today, on GOG.com. That's only $1.79 for each of the games if you get them both, or if you already have one and you complete your collection.

Time stood still. The fate of the realm was hanging by a thread. The armies stood in the field in absolute silence, as if every soul paused their breath, carefully eyeing the adversary force. Each and every soldier knew that they would leave this field today only in victory, or glorious death reserved for the brave. The beast of war feasted on deaths of thousands for years now, getting bigger, nastier, and more powerful with every fallen warrior. Now, it was ready to consume the best of the best, the ones that managed to survive all the strife so far. This was the climax of a conflict raging for years. A conflict, that wouldn't end any other way, than complete destruction of one of the sides. All was settled that day, and for some time the beast of war would slumber, satisfied and full. But as the decades pass, it would wake up again. And again. And again. The swords would be replaced with plasma cannons and tanks, but the beast would always wake up hungry. Always inspiring [url=http://www.gog.com/promo/gem_promo_total_annihilation_series_stacking_0212]Total Annihilation of nations.

Total Annihilation: Commander Pack and Total Annihilation: Kingdoms (+ Expansion) exemplify the very best of classic Real-Time Strategy gameplay. With dozens of missions available in the basic campaigns as well as the included expansions, these classics can present you with hundreds of hours of challenge and fun, in single and multi-player modes alike. Both titles come complete with amazing full MP3 sountracks!

If you are a strategy games fan don't miss the chance to catch up on one of the highest-rated RTS game series here on GOG.com. Don't wait, because the Total Annihilation Series is discounted only for 24 hours, that's until Tuesday, December 3, at 10:59PM GMT.

Maighstir: Then again, raising the resolution of a 2D game means a larger viewable area (thus giving an advantage to people with higher-resolution screens, which I seem to remember they've stated they don't want), increasing the resolution of a 3D game just gives more detail to the rendered image (unless you also move the camera further back, but that is resolution independent).
It's an excuse for laziness, everyone has LCD high-res monitors nowadays, do you seriously thinking playing SC in 640x480 mode stretched across a 1920x1080 monitor is acceptable given how much money Blizzard have gotten from the game? It would literally take a programmer a weekend or a day.

The larger viewable area argument is also silly, considering SC has fog of war.
I am so disappointed in the original TA but I'm probably going to buy this entire package (unless someone wants to gift them to me ;-D) because I'm a fool for the genre, I'm tired of losing the 4 cds it takes the to play the standard TA package, and I have an idea that if I keep playing them I might start to like them. Of course I thought that about the original Castlevania and I still despise that goddamn thing! :P
A grand finale to the Black Friday sale! Come and get some TA, because there's no such thing as too many guns.
Excellent promo!
I've passed over Kingdoms in many a promo. Is there really a need to play it if you own TA?
Interesting that the Atari games have been on sale a bit more frequently since the auctions for some games' rights.
With my CD version the screen would shake during large explosions. I don't see that happening here. Is that an option I'm missing here? It's not a big deal because just being able to play it without going through the cds is worth it, but still if I can get the shaking back I'd like it.
Gotcha!

That might have been the acid, not the game. :p

I walked into that one. XD +1

ps I have NEVER done acid.
Love how the guys who make World of Tanks (Wargaming.net) own the rights to some of the Atari titles like Total Annihilation now - good to see them keep the contracts with GOG.com so far :)

Considering they adquired Gas Powered Games, I hope they decide to do a new game of the series but not a MP-based only game like World of Tanks
Finally, I own TA (just waiting for midnight so I don use up some of my 10G DLing)
First time I've ever owned all the titles in a non-Witcher promotion on GoG. *sniff* this feels like a milestone, does it make me an adult gamer now? Will I sprout wings soon?
Bought Kingdom to complete the "collection". I don't even like TA but so many people love it that I feel I must be playing it wrong or something. My biggest problem with it is that all the units look the same to me.
