Hey, hombre! Get Desperados: Wanted Dead or Alive + Desperados 2: Cooper's Revenge 70% off!

Desperados Series, a pair of squad-based real-time tactical games set in the wild west, that is Desperados: Wanted Dead or Alive and Desperados 2: Cooper's Revenge, are available up to 70% off on GOG.com. That's as little as $4.78 for both for the next 24 hours!

El Paso, a typical Wild West town in the southwestern United States near the Mexican border. It is the year 1881. For the last few months, the trains belonging to the famous railroad company, Twinnings & Co have been the target of a whole series of hold-ups and ambushes. The management of the company has decided enough is enough and they have to put an end to the raids. It has offered a reward of $15,000 for anyone who captures the leader of the gang responsible. But no one in and around El Paso has the courage to take on the might of the bandidos, so the outlaws just keep on robbing train after train. Even the local Marshal is keeping well out of it. It’s only when a stranger rides into town that things start to change. Bounty hunter John Cooper pays a visit to the local Twinnings & Co manager offering to end the railroad company’s problems once and for all.

Desperados: Wanted Dead or Alive and Desperados 2: Cooper's Revenge share the successful tactical combat mechanics of the Commandos series but present even more challenging difficulty level and a full-blooded spaghetti-western setting. The games deliver a wide variety of scenarios and an impressive number of ways to accomplish each assignment, with the second one giving you even more tactical options with its full 3D environment. If you're up for some real tactical challenge, you can get many hours of satisfying gameplay out of this pair of wild west classics!

Today, you can grab both titles in the Desperados Series for only $4.78. Alternatively, you can get just one with 60% discount instead of 70%. Or, if you already have one in your GOG.com collection, you can get the other, retaining the higher discount rate. Don't wait, because the offer lasts only until Tueasday, October 22, at 9:59AM GMT.

keeveek: That's true. Locations are beautiful, characters are memorable, new mechanics fit the setting too.

And they introduced the perp awareness 'meter', when they don't spot you automatically like in first Commandos game, but grow suspicious and raise the alarm only after a short while.

It was the worst part of Commandos 1, the instant alarm. But I've finished Commandos 1 anyway :P Beyond the call of duty, I think I unistalled it at the very last mission because it was crazy difficult :P

Desperados 1 can be crazy difficult too, but for different reasons. But I loved that one and Finished it more than once.
Being the shameless Commandos fanboy that I am, the alarms do not bother me at all. In fact, they greatly add to the tension, as far as I'm concerned. :P

Did you play Helldorado? I've heard it's a bit better than the severely disappointing (understatement of the year...) Cooper's Revenge.
Wish Desperados 1 had a widescreen hack, after seeing what Commandos 1 looks like in 1920x1080 I'd almost be willing to pay a modder to make one, just so I could see the 2D isometric maps in D1 in full HD. Desperados 1 had such beautiful artwork.
Very attractive offer.

I think I did, but didn't like it one bit ;P
This was tempting until I read about Desperados 1 Windows 7 issues. I don't understand how GOG can say that the game is Windows 7 compatible under those circumstances.

In any case, I have the 3 Commandos games but I have yet to play them so I'm not even sure that I like real time tactical games.

What issues? I've never had any
Is D2 worth the frustration?

Ddwrapper did fix the infamous "slowdown" issue for me, but unless I'm mistaken, none has figured out how to prevent the game from crashing so often.

Absolutely not. The original is worth every penny, the sequel... well, avoid it like a plague.

That answers that. :D Meh, I probably would have passed anyway. D1 is a lot of fun, the Commandos games are timeless, the Robin Hood game is pretty good, and I'm dying to have a whack at Chicago 1920, but I think I'll pass on D2.
Weird, I've never had those problems, is it tied to specific video card make or anything?

The majority of the issues seem to be Direct Draw-related.
Hmm, really though I had the first one on GOG... Oh well, might have to get it since it's -60%.
99% of the time I try to steer people towards GOG games, but I did feel it was important to warn others on r/gamedeals about the Desperados' crashing issues. :-/ It's unfortunate.
