Draak is back.

Darkstone, a classic hack-and-slash that introduced 3D graphics into the genre, will have you hacking through hordes of horrors with a 60% discount on GOG.com. That's only $2.39 for the next 24 hours.

When your legal name is "Lord Draak" and you wield the power to transform yourself into a giant dragon, becoming an evil overlord seems like the obvious career choice. Then, if by some strange and totally unexpected twist of fate, you end up deprived of your magic, banished from the realm, and nearly killed you are, again, left with not much of a choice. You obviously need to gather back your minions and devise a new evil plot to terrorize the land and rebuild your reign of fear, violence and darkness. Right? RIGHT?! Well, tough luck, Lord Draak, this game is not about you. It’s about the valiant heroes that are out to get you. Let's repeat that part: Out. To get you. Right. Now.

In Darkstone a party of up to four adventurers sets off on a quest to free the realm of Uma of its oppressor. In the co-op multi-player mode each player controls one of them. In single-player you can switch between two characters and the computer will take control of the one you leave unattended. There are four provinces to explore, each with its own set of quest-filled, procedurally-generated dungeons to keep you busy and boost the game’s replay value. If you enjoy hacking the minions of evil and slashing through one dark, damp dungeon after another, preferably with some friends at your side, but this title somehow is missing from your DRM-free collection, today is the best day to grab it!

Fourteen years after its release, Darkstone remains one of the most memorable titles of the hack-and-slash genre! Start dungeon crawling now, for only $2.39 until Tuesday, October 29 at 10:59AM GMT.

SangHee: This is a game worth remastering. Sometimes companies should let their community do that if they don't want to do it commercially.
It's called "modding" and it happens not only sometimes.

tinyE: How is it I've never heard of this!?

As we all know I have no friends so how is the SP?
I've already gone way over my fiscal limit for the month but those screen shots are making my short hairs stand on end; are the good screen shots, does the game actually look that good?
Single Player is good, though the hardest (unlockable) difficulty can be nearly impossible to complete due to the end boss. And the game does look like that.

Really? I've tried the game on two systems, first time I cancelled it because I thought the drivers were acting up but also on the second system it turned out that the game is very hard to look at. Almost everything is very hard to read and also the 3D stuff seems to be capped at a painfully low resolution. Really, it just feels wrong. o_O

Well shit, I was just about to get it.

Wait for a few minutes, hopefully someone's gonna show up and tell me what a moron I am, that there's some very simple way to increase the resolution.

Edit: Oh no, it seems to be capped at 640x480. Oh well... still, I hope I'll eventually get over it and learn to appreciate the game. Because I really want to...

It's because you've been living in the middle of nowhere for the last 50 years.

I played it windowed mode to avoid eye bleeding.

Dang, I'm starting to think that I should play this game on my netbook.

I've been living in the middle of nowhere for the last eight years. The thirty years previous to that I was in St. Louis Missouri which isn't the middle of nowhere but it is a cesspool.
Nice promo, thanks GOG!
Whaddyaknow? Something on my very short wishlist popped up in a targeted sale. Niccccce!

Thanks, gOg!
It does look kind of shitty on a regular pc. How do I play it in a window? I thought I knew how to do that but I'm stumped with this game.

EDIT: got it. Too small now. :P
Oh well, it was only a couple of bucks and I still have my Diablo and Torchlight games. :D

is it any different than the psx version? ...
I would definately buy it if I hadn't the psx version of it already.
I was about to purchase this when I realized that maybe I already owned it which I did. It's a great game with cool riddles.
