Three epic-scaled real-time strategies, thousands of fearless warriors.

Cossacks Anthology, a robust collection of three historically accurate and complex RTS games that give you command over up to 8 000 units on the battlefield, is available 60% off today on GOG.com. That's only $2.39 for the next 24 hours!

Most of you probably aren't familiar with the Cossacks--the nation itself, not the phenomenal games series--so here's a fun fact for you. The historical eastern-slavic warriors mainly resided in Ukraine, Poland's immediate neighboring country. For that reason, the word "Cossack" is commonly used in Polish language and it has one particular meaning: bad-ass. Polish people hold the valiant horse-riding nation in such high esteem that whenever they want to express awe and admiration for someones daring deeds or simply applaud their bravado, they will say: "man, you're such a Cossack!". Pair disregard of fear with strategic brilliance, ruthlessness in battle, and jovial, fun-loving demeanor, and you have a nation sure to become the stuff of legends. Now, you can lead those incredible men into battle in three epic RTS games!

Cossacks Anthology combines classic real-time strategy gameplay with great attention to historical detail and a remarkable scale of virtual battlefield. The series is known for giving the player command of thousands of units at a time. With large-scaled, elaborate maps and accurate historical scenarios featured in these games will really make you feel the flames of war burning. The original campaigns can give you dozens of hours of challenging gameplay, but if that's not enough you can always use the scenario editor and random map generator to extend your game indefinitely. For such a prize, this amazing collection is a must-have for all RTS fans!

The sound of thousands of hardened warriors furiously rushing into battle will fill your ears as soon as you get Cossacks Anthology, for only $2.39 on GOG.com. The offer lasts until Tuesday, May 28, at 9:59AM GMT.
Meanwhile, still no Cossacks 2 on GOG!
Great promo... but not my cup of tea.. :)
I would be more interested if GOG could get the STALKER series here.
Great game! It has been long time we don't see another GSC strategy release like Cossacks 2 or Alexander.
Great game even better at this price.
cant say this is my cup of tea either....
Oh I think I remember buying one of these games physically a long time ago.

In it can you "hire" (build) mercenaries from a market type building, and they drain gold, but if you run out of gold they go crazy and start shooting your peasants?
Awesome game. The campaigns suck and vary heavily in quality and style but skirmish is absolutely epic.

That's the one.

Same developer but different publisher. I don't even know what happened to the franchise after THQ went down, all I heard was some legal dispute between some German company and GSC Gameworld.

I own American Conquest, it has one major annoyance to me; during large scale battle most of the time you can't give command to all your unit to attack the enemy. Half of them will stand still do nothing, while their comrade fall one by one. Or you can't move all of them to specific spot.

Since Cossack is using the same engine, i wonder if this problem present?
I am curious to know, can you use battle formations like in Shogun total war with the Cossacks game...

That's a great question. I hope someone answers it.
Oy.
This is not a complaint only fair warning that this game is HARD!!!!!
If you love a challenge then you would be beyond stupid to pass this up so go for it, but if you want a walk in the park don't put yourself through this! :P

To review:
You like a challenge = this game is priceless so BUY BUY BUY

Don't like a challenge = hang out with me over here playing Serious Sam on god mode. :D

and to the above yes yes and no you don't need to worry about troops just standing around. The thing that makes this game so frustratingly difficult is keeping your troops fed and loaded. It's bad enough that they eat so much but the designers went and added ammunition supply. EVERY bullet gets accounted for and no matter how many mines or workers you get going you STILL run out of ammo. Then that adds to the spiral effect. Not enough ammo or food? Fine get more workers! Problem, they eat too, so you only increase the decline of food stocks by increasing the amount of food producers. And don't forget, miners eat, and blacksmiths eat. Do I need to continue? :D

Another game I never knew existed. Nice. Seems fun plus you don't get to play Ukranians that much in games.
"For that reason, the word "Cossack" is commonly used in Polish language and it has one particular meaning: bad-ass"
...actually it has two meanings. Cossacks are also type of high heel boots. So take it as you will :D
