Artificial planet, real trouble.

Anachronox, a colorful Sci-Fi role-playing game with turn-based combat system resembling Japanese RPG titles, a cast of memorable characters, and an amazing mysterious story, is available 60% off on GOG.com. That's only $2.39 for the next 24 hours.

Sly Boots, probably the most unlucky private investigator in the history of the universe. Always the first to get the beating, always the last to get the girl. Someone with a trace of self-preservation instinct would have considered a career change. A hot-dog-and-zurhmax-beer booth in some relatively peaceful corner of northern Anachronox would be a much safer (and probably more profitable) business than a detective agency in the middle of the crime-ridden slum. So yes, some people might call Sylvester "Sly Boots" Bucelli a fool. The universe, however, needs that exact type of fools. Someday, when fools are in short supply, there will be no one to stand up to odds and save the whole of existence from destruction. Someday, but not today.

Anachronox combines jRPG mechanics, cinematic storytelling, and incredibly compelling Sci-Fi setting in one fun and memorable game. The story brings back the memories of space-opera classics, splices them with neo-noir detective novels, and adds a hefty dash of cyberpunk. Anachronox, the artificial planet of unknown origin that serves as the game's setting, is so full of mysteries that it could easily keep a legion of investigators busy for a century. All you get, though, is one beat-down sleuth and his small squad of misfits, dragged into a chain of events that are way over their head. Prepare for one of the most amazing stories ever told in computer RPGs!

Are you ready for a radical Sci-Fi adventure in the strangest corner of the universe? Get Anachronox for only $2.39 on GOG.com. The promo lasts until Tuesday, March 19, at 10:59AM GMT.

Could it have been in a Steampunk or RPG bundle during the Christmas sale? I don't think it was on sale individually before.

Or a Square Enix promo during the last weekend of September.

Checked my shelf. Was it on sale with the thief collection, if so that is where it came from.
Not to worry, I will give it a go one day. As I have it, I might as well try it.
REDEEMED! Enjoy Anachronox, wormholewizards!

Now this is a Gem Promo. Any poor bastard who hasn't had the chance to play this wonderful gem of a game has little excuse to pass on it now.

I Remember the first time I played a video game. Well, not really, I was probably around 5 years old at tHe time. Definitely younger than 8, that's for sure. Yes, definitely 5, not 9, but 5. That's about when I started playing Video games. Ah, yes. VidEo games. You WiN some, you lose some, but it's all about how much you enjoy the Game. I only grew to love video games more by the time I was 9. Just make sure you ComE here and let people know you redeemed your copy of Anachronox from me, so nobody else has to go through the tedium of sifting those bold characters out of this message, just to discover it's already been redeemed.

I was about to hit "add to cart" when I noticed the EULA. Should I be worried about the game "calling home" to Square-Enix? What about the whole "dynamic advertising" bit? Maybe I'm being silly, but one of the reasons I love GOG is the fact my games are DRM-free, so I want to make sure I understand the 'small print' before I hit buy. Thanks in advance.

AFAIK, it's just their general EULA they use for all of their games and they didn't adapt it to the GOG versions. I haven't noticed any differences in the GOG versions of EA and Square Enix games compared to the other GOG games. I think it's safe to just ignore these EULAs.

tfishell: You lost four bucks.

Leroux: Nah, he didn't lose four bucks, he just missed out on the occasion to save them. ;)
The game is worth the $6.
Good point.

Does anyone know how to get the spinning Wicked logo off the top corner of the screen, or even if I can?
