EDIT: Contest is over, Pseudoman won. :)
I'm trying to see if the community might be interested in a release of these unknown old-school platformers on GOG, Speedy Blupi 1 & 2. (known as Speedy Eggbert when published by eGames in the US) They may seem pretty simplistic when compared to other platformers like Duke Nukem or Dangerous Dave, but imo they can still be a lot of fun.
How to enter:
- spend at least 5 minutes viewing YouTube footage of the games and read about them below.
- post which classic 2D platformer (a $5.99 title) you would like to enter for. (I reserve the right to say if the game doesn't meet my criteria, but you'd be fine with Duke Nukem 1 & 2, Rayman, Dangerous Dave, Oddworld, Superfrog, etc.) OR select between Heretic Kingdoms, Empire Earth 1, or Broken Sword 1. (I have gift codes handy for those.)
Winner will be picked in about 1 1/2 - 2 weeks. (Or sooner, but probably about that time so this gets decent exposure ;)

They're pure platforming "family-friendly" gameplay. You control the adorable main character Eggbert (or Blupi), and collect a certain number of chests in each level and then exit through the rotating red arrow (or key if it's the final level in a world). The main aspect is the ability to jump at varying heights - small, regular, and large. (Even "huge" if you've eaten the lollypop powerup)
Here's a description I emailed GOG:
"Regarding Speedy Eggbert 1, there's the following and more:
* 30+ levels for the initial game, and numerous user-made levels that can be downloaded. (Mentioned below w/ level editor)
(I should add, gameplay is not always linear as in other platformers. Depending on the design, you can move all around a level [especially if jetpacks are included].)
* Blocks relating to different environments - tech, underground, carnival, library, forest, suburbia, tropical.
* Almost 2 dozen backgrounds related to the different environments
* Lifts, invisible blocks, hidden blocks, springs, wind, water, monkey bars, moveable crates
* Weapons, defense and offense - skateboards, jeeps, shield, glueball tank, jetpack, mines
* Power-ups - eggs (lives), lollipops (height), personal mines, potion
* Background design pieces - houses, foliage, trees, cement, tech, rock, seaweed, columns
* Enemies - clones, birds, sharks, fans, bulldozers, mines (moving or otherwise), lava
* A level editor that allows people to make their own creations; they can share the levels as .xch files.
* 9 jaunty melodies that could be included as the OST
* Over 5 dozen different soundfx
Speedy Eggbert/Blupi 2 takes it even farther with doors, crumbling earth, saws, conveyor belts, hovercraft, portals, dynamite; bees, "slammers", slime, and electricity as extra enemies; and dirt, slime, marble, and CHEESE as new environments. And better-looking lava. And an extra dozen backgrounds and another 30 sound fx. Etc."

There's more I could say, but your best bet to learn whether you'd like the games or not is to view them on YouTube, or try out a demo.
I think that's about it. Let me know what you think! I'm very biased but I think these games have a place here.
