more mac, More Mac, MOAR MAC!!!

That's right. We've added an actual bucket full of Mac games to our catalog today. No, really, we got a bucket, filled it, and then made all of those games Mac compatible. Man, the way we do business can be odd sometimes. As usual, if you got the Windows version of one of these games previously, you'll be granted the Mac OS X version without any additional payment. Check the complete list of our Mac/Win dual-system games here.

The new huge batch of games includes acclaimed titles old and new. Here's a little preview just to show off some of them.

EDIT:
Unfortunately, due to circumstances beyond our control, we needed to remove Daedalic Entertainment's The Whispered World from our Mac OS X lineup. We will offer a refund to anyone who bought the game between November 15 and November 20 2013, if they purchased the game based on Mac compatibility, and would like to get their money back. We're terribly sorry for this inconvenient situation!
As primarily a Mac user, THANK YOU!!!! Keep up the great work!
You use Wine for some games?

grinninglich: You use Wine for some games?
Not speaking for GOG, just my own experience since I have a Mac. If they aren't running DOS, they mostly seem to use Wine. I have a few in my collection that are Mac native though, like Bard's Tale, and Shelter. Kind of wish they'd say in the game description, but in practice it doesn't seem to matter too much. Though I did run into an issue where I couldn't right-click using my trackpad on some of the Wine games. So to answer your question, yes, for some games.
And Linux? (or Ubuntu only or w/e)
Its great to see more Mac games on GOG.

So somebody thought it was worth adding a Mac version of Fallout Tactics: a last-ditch effort to maximise returns, or a sign that it may indeed stay here after Interplay's licence expires?

Check PlayonLinux. They feature lots and lots of GOG games using Wine and it generally works quite well.
the scripts choose the most suitable Wine version and install it in a bottle so that the settings do not contaminate your main Wine install. Furthermore, PlayOnLinux is not Ubuntu exclusive.
Just about any game that was writtten for DOS can be played using DOSBox. Most adventure titles can be played in SCUMMVM as well..
There used to be a GOG Mix of titles that play on Linux bot it got corrupted somehow and show an empty page.

If you see a game here that is compatible with Mac and it does not show up in the PlayOnLinux list yet, try to find someone that owns a suitable Mac system. Ask them to install the game and analyze the Wine config. and version used to make the install work. There is a good chance that those Wine settings will work as well on a Linux system, if you take the trouble to adjust the paths which are Mac-specific to the counterparts used by your distro.
If the installer installls Mac-specific libraries that are not part of the original game, this method won't work.
The same goes for games actually compiled for Mac by the maker of the games of course...

Nowadays, with the overlap of GOG, Humble Bundle/ Store and Desura, I always check to see if the two last-mentioned distributors carry the Linux version before buying any new game on GOG.
Don't get me wrong: I love GOG, but as long as they do not support Linux, they play second fiddle to these distributors when it comes to cross-platform games.
If you choose a Desura offer, be sure to install Desurium and not the abysmally bad Desura client for Linux. It will save you lot's of troubles while trying to install, heck even download a game.

I own a MacBook from 2007, which is not suitable to play any modern games. I do not plan to buy a Mac in the near future.

Thanks gog. I'm sure I'll pick some of these up sooner or later.
I'm not a Mac gamer but that's a great list of games there.
Great list indeed ! I'm still in 10.6.8 and some of new ports are for 10.7 minimum. Nothing than the windows version and a wineskin wrapper can't handle ! For example, shadowman, easy install in a 1.7.5 engine, no winetricks.
Not a MAC user, but that's great work guys.
Aren't we going to get a "This week on GOG"?

Ahh... the fall sale probably shook up the usual routine. :-/

You can find it on the YouTube channel, or in the newsletter e-mail you get.
Alternately, as soon as the promo comes up, go to the promo page and in the URL replace the word 'promo' with 'newsletter', and that way you'll also find the link to the video. Like so:

Edit: Might as well put the direct link to the video, no? ;)

I have to say this is "too little, too late" for me. When I saw "I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream", I jumped to get it since I'd wanted to play it for, oh, 20 years or so. I didn't even know there was a Mac version until I saw it at Steam. When I wrote GOG about it, all I got was a perfunctory, disinterested reply.

Now I'm hesitant to buy anything from GOG. If Steam can have the Mac version on day 1, then why can't GOG? And what happened to GOG's customer service in the meantime? I just threw away my money buying "I Have No Mouth" here (I had to re-buy it at Steam). Will that be the case in the future as well?

That's because there is no Mac version, it's the DOS version wrapped up in Boxer (DOSBox done right). if you really want to play a DOS game on OS X it takes less than a minute to get it up an running in Boxer, I do it all the time.
