Round 4: Arx Fatalis wins the clash of RPGs.
Arx Fatalis is a cRPG described by most of our gamers as ‘friggin’ awesome’ and we couldn’t agree more. Now, thanks to all of your votes, Arx Fatalis is only $2.39. But don’t worry Gothic fans--the acclaimed fantasy story form Piranha Bytes is only $5.99 for the next 24 hours, so everyone wins!

Round 5: Broken Sword: Director’s Cut vs The Last Express
Broken Sword: Director’s Cut includes the remastered Broken Sword game with an additional chapter to the story, the original version of Broken Sword: Shadow of the Templars a.k.a. Broken Sword: Circle of Blood, a soundtrack, and a comic book. You play as two characters: George Stobbart, an American patent lawyer who has been part of a bomb attack on a small Parisian Cafe, and Nicole Collard, a French journalist. Together, you must unravel the conspiracy of the Templars.
The Last Express seats you on the Paris-Constantinople express in 1914. You will be stunned by the beautiful Art Nouveau graphics painstakingly rotoscoped to bring every detail to life--and you’ll be shocked by the deadly knot of intrigue, romance, and betrayal that you need to straighten out before you leave the train. Many endings are possible, depending on decisions you make and actions you take.

retro_gamer: Can someone tell me when Broken Sword was for free?
avatar
Bloodygoodgames: I heard it was given away when GOG hit their 6 million downloads milestone. I didn't get it, as I wasn't a member then.

Edited for correct information :)[/i]
I think it was sometime around early October.

Gonchi: Battle of the Games replaces this weekend's sale (and probably next week's too).
avatar
ThomasGoG: I was expecting that to be the case, but still hoping otherwise.
Was hoping for a weekend sale too, as the "battles" have nothing interesting to offer so far. But ok, will save my money for the next two weeks then.
Finally a game that I want is winning.

JMich: Continuing to vote for the one I don't have
Same here. The Last Express, my vote is yours.
You're voting for the one you don't have... great.
[Yes, I know that we're voting for the game we WANT to buy, not for better, but this is different situation because one of these games was free]

To be honest, I've never been a fan of adventure point'n'click (or Fahrenheit-like) games. Till now. So I'm trying to choose best of them thanks to gog.com sales. (Propably old games are better... and only one) Your votes are tips which one to choose. Both of them could be great must-have but I won't buy all of them, because of lack of time (when I buy smth, I play it :) )...

So... Is that Last Express better or not?
Already have BS1 so I voted for TLE. Both are amazing games and should be played by everybody, adventure gamer or not.
I wish Divine Divinity will be in a battle.
Not too interested in either of these. Looking forward to tomorrow to see what's battling next.

I've already been checking on here regularly to see what's new and what's on sale, but this summer battle has me checking every day!
I have to say, this is a shrewd piece of marketing. I am quite impressed, and surprised more companies like Steam have not done this.
*Sigh* I'm interested in both of these games, and a sucker for point-and-click adventures.
Damnit, I'm suppose to practice some impulse-control GOG!

Regardless of the outcome, I'll more than likely purchase both of these games that I've wanted for such a long time now.

It's win-win.

Both are classics that have their own strengths. You can not really compare the two and say one is better because the games are two completely different takes on adventure games. Asking which is better is a very subjective question for whoever answers. Most people will say Broken Sword probably because it is more well-known, but The Last Express is fantastic too.

You should just get them both since they will be discounted.

Hope that helps some.
I Voted the Last Express in spite of some irritating timing issues. The art style, oh, the art style is stunning and the immersive adventuring is really well done.
Broken Sword: Shadow of the Templars has a lighter style, but suffers from some puzzles that feel a bit tacked on..
I own both games and I like both games a lot. The Last Express just stands out as a bolder, more unique game.

Boohoo! I already have both of them! I am hoping for some adventure games I DON'T have, LOL. I gladly grabbed 7th Guest, and hope that 11th Hour comes up during this promotion.
Adventure goodness is on the way. I have both titles but I will vote for TLE because I believe people would enjoy that sale more, maybe even the game too. No losers here.
I have both :-)
