Trying to get Doom 3 with Sikkmod working, but it apparently has problems with Catalyst AI and the new Control Center doesn't give me the option to turn it off. Any simple way to do this?
Hi, I was able to get sikmod on my system to work and disable catalyst AI , but it is complicated. i can walk you through if you have windows 7, at least tell you how I did it.

I actually want to know how to do it to because I have tried everything to turn off Catalyst AI and nothing seems to work.
First of all make sure you have your folder settings set to "see hidden folders and files" this is in the control panel under appearance. here is a link to how to do it

Registry edits :( I have no idea how to edit a registry, or even get to there.

Why would they take out the little 'Disable catalyst AI' button?
Uh, what the heck is Catalyst AI?

It's what ATi called it's surface-texture optimization software before AMD bought them out. It's still called "Catalyst A.I.", but the whole package is called "AMD VISION" now.

... okay.

What version of ATI Catalyst are you guys using? I'm using 12.2 (says 12.3 on the control center) and "Enable Surface" something or other can be disabled.

I'm using the latest CCC that came bundled with the latest drivers, 12.2, and I have an option to disable Catalys A.I.
Where do you find the version you're running? I know it's going to be something obvious, but can't find it.

That's for a 4890, but I'm pretty sure win7 64 bit drivers are the same for all desktop cards.

If by chance you aren't using Win7 64 bit then use this page and enter your own info

I have the AMD VISION control center 12.3 and I just did this to disable catalyst AI....1. In CCC set up your AA & AF settings, make sure that Catalyst AI is set to "High Quality", and make sure that the "Enable Surface Format Optimization" check box is unchecked before continuing. also I shutdown mom exe using ctrl alt delete in my task manger under process

2. Search for a file named 'Profiles.xml'. Mine was located here:
C:\Users\yourname\AppData\Local\ATI\ACE\Profiles.xml

3. Right click on the file once the search is done and select "Edit".

4. Find 'CatalystAI' and change Enable to Disable

5. Now run the MOM.exe file. Mine was located here:
C:\Program Files (x86)\ATI Technologies\ATI.ACE\Core-Static\MOM.exe

6. Restart your PC and you should be set.

Now you can use the latest drivers and CCC and disable Catalyst AI.

before I did this sikmod would freeze when loading, now I can play.

I didn't change any registries and make sure you have your folder settings set to "see hidden folders and files" this is in the control panel under appearance.

Whitewraith: Snip
I tried that last night and nothing changed with Sikkmod. I guess I'll just try it at some indeterminate point in the future. Thanks for your help, guys.
