I know GOG offers smaller franchise sales and sales on certain items from time-to-time but are the big summer & winter holiday sales the two big ones? They seem to come around the middle of June and the middle of December every year. Are there any other big events like this from year-to-year?

That seems to be the case for at least the past couple years. Big sale in June and big sale in December.

Throughout the year there will also be other special promos aside from the usual daily or weekend ones, such as "pick 5, pay $10" or "buy 5, get 80% off" bundles that we've seen in the past 8-9 months.
