Psychonauts, Torchlight, Wing Commander 3, and 19 other great games, classic and new, now for your Mac!

Our Mac gaming offer keeps on growing with the addition of a new or classic title every now and then, and our catalog of OS X compatible games has reached (and passed) 100-games milestone quite a while ago. Steady growth is not enough for us, though. We like to drop a content-bomb from time to time, adding a whole pack of Mac-compatible builds to the site. Well, boom! Today, such a pack arrives, with a collection of 22 exciting titles you can now download and play on your Mac! As usual, if you bought the Windows version in the past, you automatically gain access to the Mac version with no need of additional purchase. Let's take a look at the new arrivals, shall we?

drpaulthetall: GOG seems to learn a lot of my site :P most of those games were already ported on my site www.paulthetall.com...
Dear GOG, please persuade this nice guy to co-operate more closely with you, he is much more efficient in porting than you actually!
Thank you, GOG and thank you, Paul!

mouserSVK: Great news! I've been waiting for Psychonauts and Gemini Rue for long! Since I 99.99% of time use just Mac OS, I'm simply too lazy to run Parallels or reboot into bootcamped Windows.

Not sure if these are all native OS X versions, but wrapping the games myself is simply too much hassle (then I rather run it natively in Windows). Please keep up the great work, gog.com!
Psychonauts is native, Gemini Rue is wine :D

drpaulthetall: By the way, did Tomb Raider 2013 yesterday :D

dirtyharry50: Have you done Fallout 3, Fallout New Vegas, Elder Scrolls Oblivion, Elder Scrolls Skyrim - all Steam versions by any chance?

What about Mass Effect 1 & 2 - Steam versions and Mass Effect 3 on Origin?
I ported Mass Effect (gamersgate version - non steam)
and I did Skyrim and Oblivian. Buth games need a very good gfx card and even still you should play the game in low GFX settings to make it play decently. Fallout 3 and new Vegas is on the todo becaue it still has trouble with some GFX cards.

Origin is still a headache but working on it.

I always prefer GOG.com games above Origin and Steam because with GOG it is DRM free and no game client required. This saves me a lot of updating of wrappers as well.

JMich: Head's up, Pinball Gold Pak Mac installer when using the GOG Downloader tries to download the Windows version instead. Link is correct, file isn't.
Hey :D

Thanks for the heads up. We have fixed the download and it will be all set in about 5-10 minutes for those downloading via the Downloader. Just gotta wait for the cache to catch up.

Thanks again :D.

Thanks for your reply Paul. I visited your site for the first time the other day and was impressed with all the many ports and how nicely you do them.

Steam is a hassle, also in that if you use Steam Guard for security of your account, each new wrapper is seen as yet another machine Steam Guard needs to verify. I'm not sure but for all I know, there is some limit to the number of machines you can register with Steam Guard as well which could become a problem if you have a lot of ported Steam games.

I think for the aforementioned games I will stick to bootcamp for optimal performance and nicer visuals but my bootcamp partition's days are numbered. Once I play through the backlog of Windows stuff that really needs that, I'll be purchasing demanding AAA games for a PS4 and stick to selected titles for the Mac that are known to run well, preferably native ports by Feral, Aspyr, etc. and of course, classic GOGs are goodness that for the most part should be no problem to run.
That´s all good and fine and stuff, but is there Linux support planned for the future?
Wow! Thanks GOG Team!
How long will the discounts last for? Given that they're listed under the On Sale tab, I presume they're temporary.

G-Doc: It's due at 1:00PM GMT today.

JMich: So Don't Starve is the only release?
And fifty minutes late, so far. I hope nobody's starving for it.

Oh, was I mixing up GMT and BST? Cheers...
So should I be seeing lots of nice red "Updated" indicators in my account listing of games for each of the added mac versions or is it only windows updates that get listed?
Thanks, GOG.
Can't you guys describe some experiences about porting to mac? I mean, now I know that the only place the mac port of Primordia is sold is here and this is awesome.

edit: just saw the video and the sensation was kinda priceless! Thanks gog and all the developers for caring so much!!

Awesome! Some graphics issues in Total Annihilation but I'll go to its forum for that.
OK, I just tried Stronghold HD and it has the same problems I have been having when i tried to run it in Wine myself: first of all the only HD resolutions I can choose are 1920x1200 and 1600x1200, the full 16:10 resolution of my screen and the 4:3 resolution with the full height of my screen. I bring this up, because I would prefer a smaller resolution like 1280x800 since the game and its interface don't scale and everything gets tiny at high resolutions. The other problem I have is performance, at 1920x1200 the game gets really laggy. Animations play fine, but the cursor and scrolling are so laggy, it's no fun to play. My mac is an early 2009 iMac with an Nvidia 9400M graphics card, clearly above the minimum requirements listed on the game's page.

I guess I can still use the classic low 4:3 resolutions, but I could do so with Wine just out of the box already.
