I have tried many times even going far as uninstalling and reinstalling. But everytime I encounter Lord British to get the quest of killing a certain monster (when he says ready for a Grand Adventure), he always says LEAVE AND BEGONE!!!!

I have pressed every single key on the keyboard repeating the same thing and still says Leave and Begone.

Is there something I am missing or is this a bug in the gam?
Interesting. I have not encountered this. I just went to the castle and got a quest to kill a gremlin no problem.

Just keep talking to him, over and over again until he gets annoyed and gives in. Not being a smart ass. Maybe the game wants you to be persistent?

So when he asks if you are ready for a grand adventure you have to press 'Y' for yes, did you do that? If not, then he says leave and begone.
kick him in the royal sack !
that should get him talking

just because he is invincibrue doesnt mean you cant kick him in the royal sack

or set the royal sack on fire
First, you need to enter your name and then answer yes to whether you seek adventure or whatever.

If you are talking about the black and white PC version after the first quest, where you can't get a second quest.

It's a bug. There is no way to get past the first quest in the fan-made port. There is a later version of the port on the Internet which fixes this bug, but this buggy version is the one that is most often found for the PC.

A link to the later version can be found here:

Or you can play the official version which is mysteriously included in the extras...

True...
My favorite is surrounding him with kegs of gunpowder in Ultima 6. Hah, so much for being the Avatar of Virtue.

i liked the story from ultimate online especially cvg's exuberance about it

"It was a strike so spur-of-the-moment that he actually had to use his thief skills to root around everyone else's backpacks to find someone with a suitable spell. Rainz recalls a comment of "Nice Try"... but the laughs turned to astonished gasps as British grunted and fell over. Someone had forgotten to turn on British's invulnerability against that sort of attack. Victory!"

anyway kick the royal sack !

The three product bonuses, one is PC, one is Mac and one Linux. In fact, that version even has a save function...

Frankly, that version should be the default PC version as its the first official PC version which showed up on an early Ultima compilation CD, but I'm not sure if the Mac or Linux versions are more functional. If Apple II based, that was how the game originally was released, There was no real PC version until 1998 and that compilation CD.

But yeah, the download here cannot be finished. You are supposed to continue to obtain quests until you manage to kill a certain creature then you become a Knight. The fan-made port will break after just one quest and one can never be knighted.

Did it and it worked and Lord British did gave me the quest. Lets hope he still does after I do another attempt because I died and did not saved.

Controls are a bit off though. I cannot get chests simply by moving foward to them. Do I press a button when I am near them in this version?
