I'm just wondering who some of your favorite amateur video game soundtrack composers are. I'm emphasizing amateur because there are the greats like Jeremy Soule (Elder scrolls, Guild Wars etc.) and Hans Zimmer, but I want to know the lesser known ones.

One of my favorites ever is nervous_testpilot who works at Mode 7 games and is their composer. He's worked on Frozen Synapse, Frozen Cortex, and a few others. I love his stuff because it's not dubstep (which I hate) but it's like... electric trance? I think that's what it's called. Look up some of his work.

Another good one is Curis Schweitzer who did the amazing score for StarBound.

Who are some of your favorites?

EDIT: I don't know why my computer auto corrected Zimmer to Zimmerman... and it did it again... sorry for confusion.

Reading the title, I was sooooo tempted to answer "John Carpenter".
Who is Hans Zimmerman? I only know Hans Zimmer and this guy is super famous for his movie soundtracks but I have never heard that he does video game soundtracks as well.

I could name quite a few good video game soundtrack composers but most of them are well known for their work. If you want an insiders' tip I suggest you look at Pablo Vega, the composer of Arcen Games. He a really up-and-coming talent.

Before looking at his whole discography at Bandcamp I suggest you listen to the title song of Bionic Dues first. Just start the promo video and listen.

On a side note, I never knew that so many well-known actors these days actually did some voice acting for video games.
Dunno how well known they are, but since Hairebrand Schemes are an indie studio, I'll mention Gavin and Marshall Parker, Jon Everist and Sam Powell here for their work on the Shadowrun soundtrack.
From Bombergames, the amateur soundtrack composer(s) who made those exceptional remixes and work, of course!!! For the streets of Rage Remake.

Blake Robinson (dummeh on YT) has produced many covers and remixes, but he has also worked on original music, like the original soundtrack of The Stanley Parable.
