A sweet Demo for the upcoming game The Universim is now available, DRM-Free on GOG.com.

Looking forward to creating your own startup civilization and launching it into the cosmos? Then don't miss your chance to try this free Demo, which offers a brief look at what the game's Procedural Planet Generator can do, in terms of creating living, breathing environments. Keep in mind, though, that the gameplay mechanics are limited for the purposes of this demo.
Backed this, was nice to try it out!

It might just be me rushing/my inexperience, but I couldn't assign any workers to the farm or the cemetery. The nuggets I chose were only being followed around. In case someone's checking this thread.

That's probably why.

Vythonaut: Hmm, although i'll try the demo (thanks!), i think that buying the game while it's still In Development it makes up for a better demo, right? I mean, with no-questions-asked-refund you can try with confidence.

muntdefems: Yep, but you cannot buy the game yet, can you?
Patience.. ;)
I backed this on Kickstarter. It was supposed to be released October 2015. Some time ago they said that we could play the game, but only by logging into their website and pressing this button that didn't show up no matter what browser I accessed the site through. When I alerted Crytivo to this problem, they replied with a message that simply stated that there were no problems with my account. In recent months they have mostly ignored backer concerns and questions. The last time they visibly replied to any comments on the Kickstarter page was November 15th.

What I'm trying to say is that their track record is seriously against them. Don't hold your breath waiting for updates to this demo or any official release.

Zoidberg: More or less that, it appears there are some buildable stuff but I don't understand much how to play. Their interface seems clear enough but the introduction is a bit rough.

I abandonned when the second research wouldn't advance (stuck at 30 seconds). :/
I just played through a bit (as far as I could get I think) and that happened a few times. I think your people need to actually kickstart it somehow, so if your population is low and they are all busy the research may stall.

Overall it feels a little... boring and empty. But I suppose with more stuff in the finished version it should have more to do and more items to research and build.
It doesn't feel very well optimised, it was running like mud for me (admittedly my laptop isn't all that great, but it runs a lot more demanding games better), but again it's still an early demo so hopefully that might get fixed.

It worked for the engineering hut and the eatery though. That's why I thought I'd mention it!

Try right clicking on the occupation of the nugget in the dialog that opens up (not their picture). That worked for me.

Your advice is appreciated, but I've already uninstalled the demo, just wanted to see how far the game came along. I think I'll be waiting for the full version to come out now =)
How far into the game can one actually get in the demo? I have just built the farm and the 3 remaining upgrades are locked.

Not far. Its still early alpha release (version 0.2). Another 1-2 years of development left. Probably just showing the game out before they launch in dev/early access. Otherwise the farm, the cemetery, kitchen is basically it.

Hi I'm not sure if this is the right place for bug reports, but... Once a building has been selected for building you can place it or choose other building but I couldn't unclick the building icon. Also the zoom in and out is way too sensitive one click and you go from orbit the ground level. Good start thanks for the demo

I know it;s been more than a month since your report but....

Best bet would be to contact the developers directly if you haven't already:

http://support.crytivo.com/the-universim/i-have-a-great-idea-who-should-i-contact

I was wondering about this as I'm flipping thru the game's website and see lots of "Play Now" banners.

https://theuniversim.com/

I don;t recall seeing any mention of In Dev releases here on the game. The other two threads also ask about this:

And their kickstarter is discussing patches:
