Fun with friends in 8 different mini-games!

Yooka-Laylee, the adorable action/platformer featuring an agile chameleon and a chatty bat is getting 8 different multiplayer mini-games that can be enjoyed alongside its single-player adventure.

Rextro, the wacky retro-dinosaur, is hosting all these games inside his infamous Arcade. So fill your couch with up to four friends and powder your palms - it's showtime! Collect the most quills and dominate the Glaciators arena, or race to the finish line in the riveting Kartos Karting competition. Then blow off some steam blasting enemies away in Gun-let Run or challenge your anger management by facing the crazy Jobstacle course. If your friends are out of town, don't worry: you can play solo to dominate the leaderboards with your times and raise a ruckus in local co-op when they get back!

This is just a taste, though - Rextro's Arcade has plenty more games for you and your buddies! You can take a sneak peek at what's awaiting you there in the trailer below.

Yooka-Laylee is expected to launch on April for Windows, Mac, and Linux, and you can pre-order it now, DRM-free on GOG.com.

When do the Kickstarter backers get GOG codes for the game? Is the Toybox on GOG only for people who pre-order here or will backers get it whenever they get their codes?

Wrong place to be asking. If you want to know when Kickstarter backers are getting their codes, your best bet is to contact Playtonic and hope they get back to you. I can say that the video (at least the one on Kickstarter) says that it's "out April 11th" at the end, so most likely codes will be sent out around that time.

@GOG - something else worth noting in this multiplayer modes update: they're also adding in a second player option for the main game, letting someone control "the Bee Team".
I read about this last week and I still think it's a waste of development time to add this to the game.
If Selden is correct about there going to be a co-op mode, that might be pretty cool though.

I dont really get why they add multiplayer either.
Seams weird for a 3d platform game and it usally doesnt work out that well.
Co-op coud be great if they do it in some simmilar fashion as rayman origins though.
Hmm, guess il just have to wait and see if they coud pull it off then.
I really hope im wrong and its done well.

Rare's "Conker's Bad Fur Day" had multiplayer mini-games as well, and those were pretty fun. I agree that the single player mode should be their main focus, and maybe it would be better to work on these extras once the main game is done and nicely polished, but I trust they know what they're doing.

Banjo-Tooie had them as well. Ah, good times.
I just noticed that the link for "TO PLAY THIS ITEM YOU ALSO NEED" on the page of the Digital Deluxe upgrade points to https://www.gog.com/game/yookalaylee_game rather than https://www.gog.com/game/yookalaylee, which is the actual URI to the main game. Perhaps something to fix?

Sniskerbobberton: I got the Toybox, but it was a steam key even though I've asked for a GOG key :S this is through Kickstarter too.
kickstarter backer and I have not gotten anything. Getting concerned I gotta send a message or add a comment to the update asking when I get my key. backerkit has nothing.
Since it's already up for pre-order here, why we can't get our codes before the release date?

Oh gosh, I don't want to sound like a downer, but announcements like this always make me feel a little sad because I lack friends who would want to play a multiplayer mode like this with me.

I know, I shouldn't just be thinking about myself here, I know lots of people are going to enjoy this mode, but now a part of me will say "Oh man, I bought this product, but I can't even use all of it" once I purchase Yooka-Laylee. It's a childish view, I know...

So... Yeah, I am going to try and ignore that this will be included in my version of the game just to avoid feeling like I am missing out on any particular feature. :)

Sniskerbobberton: Mine was in an e-mail called 'New Digital Content for Yooka-Laylee - A 3D Platformer Rare-vival! on BackerKit'

Hi [Me],

Hooray! New digital content is available for Yooka-Laylee - A 3D Platformer Rare-vival!.

Toybox

Click Here to log in and claim it!

Thanks,

Playtonic Games.

I can't remember the payment levels, but I paid £30 for the OST and such, not sure if the toybox was included with that?
update #21 on kickstarter opened up the toybox to all KS levels (I believe). It opened it up to all pre-orders that's for sure. Backed @ 10 GBP level. Should I message them or not.
