ShadowWulfe: Oh my, how did these people even find out about GOG?
Microwave radiation!

phaolo: I'm so tempted to write "POTCO is shit!" there XD
I think you meant to write "POTCO is THE shit!" =P
Barry Woodward (EDIT: it was tfishel, not Barry Woodward, my mistake) made a thread encouraging us to let major publishers know we want their games on GOG. He even made a post on every publisher forum, describing the situation, GOG and the games which have many votes on the wishlist.

How many replies he got from us, the GOG comunity, supporting him and letting the publisher know that, apart from him there are a lot of people eager to pay for a DRM-free version of games like Command&Conquer, Max Payne, Crysis? 2-3 most.
(I have only post once, on EA forums, for Dragon Age 1&2, Crysis 1 and Warhead).

So you could laugh all you want about these people hoping POTCO will be revived by GOG (I checked some videos and the game looks quite bad) and the chance of resurrecting this game may be close to 0 but I admire their enthusiasm and their mobilization.

If only they would be this enthusiastic about H.E.D.Z.

I am forlorn on this account.

Funny that you mention it. Just a couple of days ago I grabbed my original disc from my old place. Haven't checked whether it works on Windows 7 yet, though.

Read a ton of comments then got to this one:

"i want this back, i played this while crippled laying in my bed. now that im fixed i want it back so i cant play it without being on codein"

And I laughed. I'm a terrible person, I know... if it's true it's sad, but it seemed a bit overboard :/
It is true, there is only one possible explanation

evilnancyreagan: Yes, reason!

You trot in here with your ponies of truth and logic and they clomp carelessly upon my dismal daydreams. So rude!

So, who's going to perpetuate this absurdity? You can count me in. Let the DRM-free revolution revive ALL the dead MMOs!
Yeah, you're probably being sarcastic here but it IS a point that online only games like MMO and MOABs or whatever seems to be the point where 'Bringing back old games' and 'DRM free' collide, due to the fact that you need to have an account and be online

I mean POTCO IS probably trash but there's got to be 1 or 2 MMO that are worth bringing back surely? Isn't there? Somewhere?

Seems to me that, back when it started as 'Good ls Games' the mission statement was 'BRING BACK OLD GAMES (and we won't piss about with DRM either) but now there's a anti-Steam, anti-DRM zealotry brigade, GOG is getting more indies and Steam is getting more oldies and the DRM free thing is more front and centre and the misison statement is more "GOG IS DRM FREE! (we also bring some old games back)" because now it's GOGs main selling point and differentiator

The only way around it, I guess, would be to give access to download your own copy of the server-side so you could run your own server, even locally and run around a big, empty world, if you wanted as well as having an official GOG server. But I would image that the server side of most MMOs is not designed to be friendly for consumers to operate and is in a state of constant Work-in-progress as more content would have probably been expected to be added and player cheat exploits squished right up until the day it was turned off - hells the server side probably doesn't even EXIST anymore for some of them!

It's just sad to see any parts of gaming history be lost forever whether they were things I'd personally be into the idea of playing or not...

I honestly doubt it.

I had a wonderful time playing fairyland, but I don't want it back.

NoNewTaleToTell: Well while we're at it, can we go ahead and make a wishlist entry for Troika Games to reform and begin working on a sequel to Vampire The Masquerade: Bloodlines (or Arcanum: Of Steamworks and Magick Obscura)? Make it happen GOG and GOGlytes!
Yes! and yes! I'd settle for having Bloodlines on GOG though. =)

I'd give Tabula Rasa a go. I did not have a PC good enough to run it when it launched :(

The MMO's I played are still around, and I don't feel like ever going back to any of them. Resurrecting a dead MMO? I can't possibly see that working. Then again, I don't really get the genre and it's fans at all, I only ever played MMO's because of their attachment to a franchise I like, and never played them for long, not even Star Trek Online.

tinyE: Hey at least we don't have nothing on the wishlist.

Oh wait...
Indeed, there's nothing on the wishlist.
