Who told these people GOG could bring back PotCO?
avatar
advancedhero: That is so weird. So many new grey faces.
avatar
snowkatt: but wil they stick around you think ?
Once they realize what GOG does, we will see how many still come here. Maybe this is a good thing... :/

It seems to be the fact that GOG brought aboard Disney (even if it's only LucasArts) combined with the knowledge that they release 'old' games. Still, it should be clear at a glance that this does not mean GOG has the right to sell all of Disney's games - and it should be clear that GOG does not sell any MMOs at all, and would have to change its business model drastically to do so.

EDIT: there also seems to be a lot of confusion on the wishlist entry about GOG somehow remaking or altering the game. Remaking games is not what GOG does - they only tweak the older games to make sure they run, nothing more.

but any attenpt to explain to them that they are wrong is met with hostility and scepticism

eventually though they will probably realise it just isnt going to happen

ShamusTheBrute: Oh, btw...thanks for making us ALL feel so warm and tingly here. *We appreciate the "welcome" (pfffttttt)!
Don't speak about welcomes when the first comment explaining GOG can't sell the game here on the wish that your community created was met with a bunch of pre-teens calling a user retarded for pointing them out to a pirate server.

I think he was being sarcastic which being an Aggie he is capable of. Spelling 'sarcastic' however is another matter.

ShamusTheBrute: Man...you guys are seriously butt hurt on here!!! I mean, what the hell is your problem, anyway?
You are aware that the post you responded to was sarcastic, right? The dude found some animations that look a bit like groping and stuff so he made a joke about it. The butthurt person in this case is obviously you.

And this:

... is downright dickish. So nobody's taking your unrealistic expectations seriously here. I wonder how the PotCO community would have reacted (while the game was still online) if some other even less popular MMORPG about robots had been shut down and suddenly thousands of its players began demanding robots with laserguns and stuff to be added to PotCO without doing the slightest bit of research on PotCO beforehand. That's approximately how sensible or realistic the PotCO community's approach and demands are. So forgive us if we joke around and stuff and are even a bit cynical, especially since many of us have been waiting for much simpler releases with far more votes on the wishlist for many years already.

I know he was being sarcastic, that's why I return the shots to him. The kid was calling us unwelcoming, while his pre-puberty goons couldn't even be respectful to the first person who tried to explain that their wish was unrealistic.

I understand that some of you may be a bit mad we just barged right in. But look at it in our eyes, just for a minute. Our childhood, precious childhood game was torn away from us in a single month. We lost EVERYONE. We had to move onto unfamiliar games, we had no hope. Toontown Online also closed, but was brought back as Toontown Rewritten due to the cooperation of it's developers. We, the POTCO community, were divided. All we had left was the pirates forums

And we won't be staying for long - eventually, probably within a month, we will all fade away from GOG.com. So just put up with us for a little while longer

Have a good night! :)

That's what Cortez told the Aztecs.

I have to say, I honestly don't understand and I'm unable to look at it in your eyes. Probably because I don't play online games. But servers close and things are never static in life, isn't that to be expected?

Plus, I love experiencing new games, so "had to move onto unfamiliar games" is a sentence I just can't relate to.

Nope. It's just a conflict of views here. You want GOG to bring an MMO here, basically a DRM'd game. We are here because we don't enjoy DRM. You see where I'm getting at?

Look, that's the same thing I cried about when time literally and naturally ended my childhood. I guess it's time to grow up. I honestly see this as stubbornness not to try other games. When I read some of the comments that because of this MMO people can't enjoy other games anymore, I just felt sad and disappointed at how dense some people can be. This and there's also the issue that most of the people who signed the wishlist were greatly misinformed at the scope of GOG. A petition online would've worked a lot better and most likely attracted actual attention.
