Hi,

After Galaxy updated Oblivion a day or so ago, the mod manager Wrye Bash stopped working. It now just crashes just as I start the program.

Anyone having the same issue?

Guess I'll just use OBMM to install the mods...not good.

Thank you.

EDIT: Sorry, my post came to the 'General Discussion' instead of the 'Elder Scrolls Games' group.

Indeed...Yes, indeed. :-)

Ouch. I have Oblivion setup with Wrye Bash, but I'm not using Galaxy (fortunately it seems).

They did say in their latest changelog that, I quote:

**NOTE: ** this might change your current load order if updated via GOG Galaxy.
Perhaps Wrye Bash does not like Galaxy fiddling with the files it deployed?

Thank you for your reply.

It seems that I'll have to return to the STEAM version of the game. First time GoG lets me down. Sniff, Sniff... :-(

Can you not just re-apply your load order?

No, hold on - I fixed it. The problem was the same with the offline version of the new installers.

Wrye Bash is crashing because it can not parse the modified date on some of the game's .esm and .esp files (it was something GOG changed during the latest build apparently, and now some have null modified dates). Once I set those to a non-null value (you can use this for example), it started up nicely...

Welcome to GOG, where they fix things by breaking other things :). I'll let Thiev know, maybe he can get it right the third time :).

Very common problem with mods after updates.

Isn't rollback available for Oblivion via Galaxy?
Hi all,

Thank you for all your input. There may still be hope for GoG's Oblivion version to be moddable again. :-)

Cheers.

You, WinterSnowfall, are a genius and a Scholar!!!

It was indeed the problem you mention. The latest update to Oblivion from GoG, for some reason, does nullify all the dates(time) information from the .esm and .esp files in the 'Data' folder of Oblivion.

However, using the program you suggested - BulkFileChanger - and adding dates(time) to those files, Wrye Bash is now working again.

I hope GoG takes point of this as many other people may have the same issues.

Thank you.
I'll revoke timestamps change in Galaxy, but offline will take longer to build.
..the first thing you should when modding the game is to turn off auto updates though...

Or stop using Galaxy, say no more, say no more. Wink wink, nudge nudge ;).

Glad I could be of service :). No genius here, just a friend of pythons, as in both Monty and the programming language Wrye Bash is written in.

Well, at least thanks to that they immediately caught & reported the bug.

Don't get me wrong, I love you GoG guys and gals but....you did have that GoG-made article flaunting the modability of these recent Bethesda releases (Oblivion and Fallouts) on your frontpage. As such, and with this possibilty of moding these games, with or without GoG Galaxy, this issue was, for lack of better word, avoidable.

And, without wishing to escalate matters further (eh eh), the Galaxy created shortcut for Oblivion forces Galaxy to open itself first before actually starting the game, like games on Steam, as opposed to the other Galaxy games - that I'm aware of - where the shortcuts just open the games directly.

Anyway, keep up the good work. You guys and gals rule.
