jonwil: I played Hero Quest a fair bit when I was younger (although I no longer have that copy unfortunately) and I still love board games (too bad the only time I get to play them is the occasional game of Backgammon since its hard to find games that you can play with 2 players and that both me and my family member/occasional playing partner actually like)

I would definitely like to see a new Hero Quest type game. The closest I have seen in recent times was the LEGO Heroica game which had similarities to Hero Quest (although I never did get to play it unfortunately and it would be far to expensive to obtain nowadays)
Even HQ, because I guess it's fallen into "legendary" status costs a fair amount second hand on ebay these days unless you can nab a deal! I'm glad I never sold mine :) Here's my game, got a few pics on there (of the prototype and artwork from the guys expressing interest in designing elements of the project).

SnizzlePop: We've created a board game influenced heavily by classic combat adventure/dice games Hero Quest & Space Crusade. It will combine strategy, quests, roleplay, upgrades and will be playable by up to 7 people.

Matchstickman: You are asking in entirely the wrong place.
Despite the resurgence in boardgaming recently it is still a niche market, and as such you should be looking at dedicated boardgame sites like boardgamegeek.com for answer to these questions.
Also, look up the Heroquest 25th Anniversary debacle for how not to do it!
Man I never even heard of this! They attempted to crowd fund a new version with zero rights to do so? Fools!

nightcraw1er.488: Yes, played (A)HQ a lot when younger. Will play a few board games, currently war of the ring. Problem I have as I get older is they take so much time, and with games and work it's hard to fit in. I would be careful how similar you make things, don't know who owns the IP for that but GW tend to royally roger anyone even coming close to their stuff.
Do post a link when it's up!

SnizzlePop: Yea I know of GW's litigious slant. I'm using miniatures from HQ and SC as substitutes for testing but there's nothing commercial about that so hopefully be no probs. One of the first things I intend to do is get some models done up for the miniatures if this thing kicks off. Never played War of the Ring but heard good things. I once played an older Lord of the Rings game which was poop.
Definitely try out war of the ring, it quite complex and covers the film quite well. I got the first edition, 2nd edition upgrade, anniversary edition (without minatures), the miniatures separately, and pre-ordered the anniversary expansion which comes out next year, and I am not a board game fanatic!
I have a crapton of Fantasy Flight Games still lying around. I'd be interested in a boardgame based off of HQ and such.
Count me as another huge fan. Right now, my kids and I play Dungeon quite a bit. Is this 25th anniversary HeroQuest coming to America?
Tallima, a company in Spain called Gamezone is/was making tribute game. There are a number of legal hassles and delays, some say it is a scam.. The last official communication was about 6 months ago . If you check out gamezone miniatures and like the game, the safe way to get a presale copy is e-minis.net . Some think it is still a risk because of US customs won't allow it due to trademark violation.
As I mentioned in earlier post, I've been using the mini's from HQ and SC as substitutes in my prototype. (See image attached 1)

...But looked what happened to my Barb yesterday. (See image attached 2)
My pal accidentally bust his sword off! Unreal! Late eighties to 2017 RIP. He now looks as though he wields a tiny hammer.

Just say he is weilding a glass sword, and being transparent you can only see the hilt.
god i loved that game. i don't think i ever had the patience to play it 'correctly' but i loved setting up the board and using the game pieces as action-figures, taking them of legend of zelda and eye of the beholder inspired adventures... ah, to be 9 again.

so yes i would buy something that closely resembles the original format. hell, if they re-released hero quest for a limited time i'd certainly buy a copy or two.

Cool, it seems there's a definite audience out there, if it's done right.

The Black Crown Board game continues to test well and support has been growing, which is great! We've also created a new party board game we're currently just calling "Band" which puts the players in the shoes of a band humorously dodging and weaving their way through the music industry.

Check it out here and sign up to the mailing list to get updates - https://tricor1.wixsite.com/bandboardgame
