We've created a board game influenced heavily by classic combat adventure/dice games Hero Quest & Space Crusade. It will combine strategy, quests, roleplay, upgrades and will be playable by up to 7 people.

I love games like this but do people would want a modernised effort set in an original universe? Are miniature games still getting bums on seats?

YES.
I've always been a fan since I was a kid in the 80's. Still have all the tabletop games. I have most of the current offerings of video games similar to such things but I've always wanted a new Heroquest/Space crusade style game. I'd definitely be interested!

There is still a huge audience for such games, just look at how well the Zombicide kickstarters do. They rake in MILLIONS

Yea same. I grew up with them as well. I've played other similar miniatures games, Warhammer and the relatively new Imperial Assault. A lot of fun but they don't tickle me in the same spot.

Have you never heard of BoardGameGeek? Yes, board games still have a huge audience.
So are you gonna give us the details? Maybe make a mod on Tabletop Simulator or Tabletopia or something?
Abashingly, I've never heard of either Hero Quest or Space Crusade, but I love board games! The issue for me is finding titles that click, which are single-player and without DRM. Gosh, the last one I played was an excellent digital variant of "Clue Classic".

If you're talking physical board games, I can recommend you many a single-player "solitaire" one, such as Arkham Horror LCG or the famed Mage Knight. If you're talking digital, play-against-the-computer sort of stuff, I can recommend you some of those as well, such as Onirim.

Yes, played (A)HQ a lot when younger. Will play a few board games, currently war of the ring. Problem I have as I get older is they take so much time, and with games and work it's hard to fit in. I would be careful how similar you make things, don't know who owns the IP for that but GW tend to royally roger anyone even coming close to their stuff.
Do post a link when it's up!

Board Games are actually I think more popular now then ever (at least around here). There's stores full of them, pubs devoted to playing board games etc and new games coming out all the time. I love board games, and while I never played Hero Quest, I know it's something I;d like. I love the classic Talisman and the new D&D board games like Wrath of Ashardalon... basically if it's a fantasy adventure with cool figurines, I'm on board (get it?). I just wish I had more money to spend on this stuff, so I could buy every cool looking game regardelss of whether I'll ever get a chance to play it much :D

I played Hero Quest a fair bit when I was younger (although I no longer have that copy unfortunately) and I still love board games (too bad the only time I get to play them is the occasional game of Backgammon since its hard to find games that you can play with 2 players and that both me and my family member/occasional playing partner actually like)

I would definitely like to see a new Hero Quest type game. The closest I have seen in recent times was the LEGO Heroica game which had similarities to Hero Quest (although I never did get to play it unfortunately and it would be far to expensive to obtain nowadays)

You are asking in entirely the wrong place.
Despite the resurgence in boardgaming recently it is still a niche market, and as such you should be looking at dedicated boardgame sites like boardgamegeek.com for answer to these questions.
Also, look up the Heroquest 25th Anniversary debacle for how not to do it!
There is a new Hero Quest version in the works, as stated by this successful crowdfunding:
HeroQuest 25 Aniversario

Of course, that was at the end of 2013 and the game is not out yet, and many of their backers never trust it ever will.

On the other hand, there are many boardgame dungeon crawlers inspired by it. The most successful ones is probaby:
Descent: Journeys In The Dark (Second Edition)
considered by some as the natural evolution of HeroQuest (it's an old game, and not up to todays boardgame standards).

There's also Descent's brother:
Star Wars: Imperial Assault
which is basically Descent rules with a star wars paint over.

Mind you, this games are expensive, full of expansions and extra miniatures not included in the boxes. So yes, this games are really a money sink.

Which is why there are several other dungeon crawlers, to name a few...
Gloomhaven
Conan
Masmorra
Sword & Sorcery

And other incoming ones like Massive Darkness (from coolminiornot) or Lords Of Hellas.

I was myself looking for a dungeon crawler for my collection (and I still am), and I've been close to get Descent, but the mess of all the different expansions and how to combine them with the core box, plus all the extra miniatures with their cards and how they are taking advantage of their customers put me off. So I'm going to wait for the new ones and reevaluate. Keeping in mind that boardgames are very easily sold out and reprints are slow (if at all).

Yea I've checked out Boardgamegeek in the past, filled to the brim with different types of board game/card game discussions but I was thinking specifically about that HQ/SC style. Similar ball park, rule wise. The happy medium. Takes a bit of getting used to, but you don't need a manual the size of War & Peace to get started.

Sure, you can check out my game here,

Knocked together a cool looking prototype and looking for interested peeps to sign up to the mailing list. The plan is to attempt to crowd fund if there's enough interest in something like this.

They were super popular games workshop offshoots in the eighties. Miniature based but with a focus on quests. Deffo worth a crack if you're into stuff like that :) Ah Clue, or Cluedo as it was known in the UK. I didn't even know they had a digital version.

Oh, you're talking about a wargame/RPG sorta thing?
There's still a market for it. Crowdfunding's the way to go and I, again, suggest that you use Tabletop Sim or something like it to test on if you don't already have the materials. This isn't even my alley, but heck, I'd playtest it.

Yea I know of GW's litigious slant. I'm using miniatures from HQ and SC as substitutes for testing but there's nothing commercial about that so hopefully be no probs. One of the first things I intend to do is get some models done up for the miniatures if this thing kicks off. Never played War of the Ring but heard good things. I once played an older Lord of the Rings game which was poop.

Yea man, I'm pretty much the same way. As long as there are miniatures that look half decent, streamlined gameplay and upgrades count me in!
