ResidentLeever: The Flashback and Secret of Mana remakes

Turtles in Time Re-Shelled
Just a reminder, the topic is about bad changes, not bad remakes. Perhaps you could state more details other than just the name of the game?

Swedrami: Basically everything done in the name/for the sake of puritanical and/or political correctness.
The removal of Miranda's "ass shots" in Mass Effect: Legendary Edition, covering up and de-beautifying the Amazon, as well as race-bending the Assassin in Diablo 2 Resurrected, etc.
I've heard of games doing the opposite, which is far worse. (Although I don't agree with what you said being a negative change, but that's another story.)

For example, one game's remake has an achievement that requires looking up a character's skirt 10 times. Say what you will about whether achievements are good or bad in general, but that sort of achievement is in very bad taste and should not be in the game.

This me playing devil's advocate:
Why should this not be in the game?
Many, many, *many* games allow you, or even require you, to take actions that would be immoral in real life, if not outright illegal. And attach Achievement to these actions.
And i'm not even talking about games like Agony or Hatred.

Why should peeking under someones skirt in games be treated differently?

Feck! So no Diablo 2 on GOG, I guess.

Not that I'd be thinking much about Diablo currently.

MeowCanuck: This is a remake. What makes this different from a "retake"?

Darvond: I'm not entirely sure how one could look at Final Fantasy 7 and Final Fantasy 7R and call them the same game. They're not the same genre, and look, Scott the Woz made a video detailing it.
I had to look through the comments to find better classifications for it:

Re-port - same game on a different platform with very little changes.
Enhanced (Definitive / GOTY) - same game with slightly more content (prebundled DLCs) and/or slightly better graphics.
Remaster - same game with small bug, QOL, and/or content improvements.
Remake - same or similar core elements (story, locations, characters, gameplay, etc.), new content, assets rebuilt from scratch using modern tech.
Reimagining (Retake) - remake, but core elements are changed so it feels like a different game and experience.
Demake - remake, but for older hardware or for nostalgic purposes.

Seems more needlessly complex for general audiences, though it might have merit for more meta or academic discussions. Honestly, the following broad classifications work well enough for me with further elaborations on what those changes are (since you'd have to explain that anyway):

Re-port - same game on different platform.
Remaster - same game with any moderate changes (content, visuals, gameplay). Inherently includes enhanced editions.
Remake - game with significant changes (assets and engine) while relying on the original game for source content. Inherently includes reimaginings and demakes.

No Diablo 2 Resurrected on GOG, you mean.

Legacy Diablo 2 maybe coming to GOG at one point in the future is still possible.
For instance, when Blizzard doesn't feel like supporting/hosting Legacy Diablo 2 & LoD themseves any longer, especially since Resurrected essentially comes with built-in Legacy Diablo 2 anyway.

Knowing "Don't you guys have phones" Blizzard, they're far more likely to simply abandon it and tell you to buy the more expensive new one. Legacy Diablo 2 is like Legacy Age of Empires 1-2, once it's been remade with DRM, the only DRM-Free option is to grab one of the disc versions whilst they're still floating around on Ebay.

Well, I mean I can think of another option...
