This would be so awesome if it would work all the time, but for some reason it seems to be rather hit or miss. I've mostly run into this problem outside of GOG, but these are the results of some testing I made with games from my collection:
Worked - Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet (Zip-File from Humble; but there was another known workaround already)
- FATE (DRM-free installer from Humble; but there was another known workaround already)
- Marc Ecko's Getting Up (Steam; yay!)
No changes - FATE (Steam)
- Castle of Illusion (Steam)
- Tengami (DRM-free installer form Humble)
- Back to the Future Ep. 1 (Telltale-Installer, possibly Secu-Rom; game won't even run when started with NTLEAS, nothing happens)
- Ghostbusters: The Video Game (Steam)
- Dust: An Elysian Tale (GOG; there is another workaround for this though)
So apart from Marc Ecko's Getting Up, sadly this doesn't change much for me. Still, it was worth a try, and even getting just one game to switch is a progress already, especially since it's the game where the changes are most significant (now I can finally listen to the original English voiceovers by Talib Kweli).
Btw, just in case someone here might find it interesting or useful, I once made a
thread about listing games like that, although it didn't catch on that much. Testing the games above, I also noticed that at least three of them were published by Microsoft, although I'm not sure whether there is any meaning to it or not.
