Hi I redeemed my code for the free copy of witcher 3 that I got with my graphics card

in my account it says I can predownload it, 7 files

what is stopping me playing the game if I have downloaded all the files? I don't understand how pre-download works and can not seem to find info on it.

do they send me some sort of activation number or send another file for me to download so it completes the full files for the game therefore letting me play it on release?

Usually you'll have to download one last file (very small) on release day and that is what will allow you to install and run the game.

oh great thank you, I did look in the help section on the main site but couldn't find anything, I will download them tomorrow, I presume they are all zip or rar files that when all downloaded I just unzip them into 1 folder then set up as usual with any game?

Large games on GOG consist of an executable file (.exe) and container files (.bin). In the case of preloading, they won't allow you to download the full game yet, but withhold some files from you (either one of the containers, or possibly the executable). Once the release date comes, you'll be able to download the missing files. What you'll need to do from then on, is to run the executable in order to install the game (make sure that the .bin files are in the same folder as the executable).
