I am maybe getting a extra hard drive out of a laptop from a friend and I'm wondering; can I install Windows 10 preview edition on the drive to play The Witcher 3? I would only need it for a month or so if it deactivates or something.
Is there any current problems with Nvidia Drivers working on the current Windows 10 preview build?
Any thoughts?

( In case anybody asks I got The Witcher 3 after building my friend a computer and he gave me the code that came with his nvidia graphics card)

I have been using the Windows 10 preview for some months now. I would not anticipate any problems using it on a drive to play TW3 on. I am currently playing any game I please.

I have also been using Windows 10 preview for a few months with no gaming issues. However, I tried to run a new install of Witcher 3 on it. It refuses to play. Just brings up GOG Galaxy if I try to run from the shortcut. The Galaxy play button doesn't work. I tried the verify/repair and reinstalled. Nothing is working.

Tried starting the game on its own, directly from the game installation folder?

Sounds frustrating!

I doubt it is entirely the fault of Windows 10, though. My install of TW3 works fine starting from within Galaxy.

Keep bringing your issue to support, and I'm sure they will help you figure it out.

Cheers!

Had the same issue. Try repairing the VC++ 2012 installation or reinstalling it. Fixed it, I think either the latest W3 patch screwed up something, or the new 10130 build unregistered the VC++ 2012 files.

The installation folder didn't seem to have an exe file for the game. I couldn't install on C: drive because the SSD is too small to put games on it.

I tried to put a new install from the separate download links on separate drive that I just cleared out for it. It installed but apparently not on that drive. It went to the original installation drive (E:). I'm now getting an immediate "VCOMP110.DLL is missing" error which is at least more than I had been getting. Reinstalling as it suggested doesn't seem to help so now I'm looking into fixing that, which seems to entail installing Visual C++

Thanks so much Elenarie!! You were right, it was the 2012 files I needed. I got to the opening scene at least. Since I should have been working through all this, I'll have to put off actually playing until tonight. I am *so* relieved that I can finally start playing this game. I've waited a VERY long time for it. :-)

In case anyone has similar, I had renamed the galaxy.dll file AND downloaded and installed manually before I got the error about the VCOMP110.DLL being missing (or any error at all when trying to start the game) so I doubt the reinstall of the virtual C++ files would have worked initially.

I touched none of that. Got it working just by reinstalling the VC++ 2012 stuff.

I have it on a separate drive for games, myself. Good to hear the game now seems to be working for you, but just for future reference ( and for others who might have similar problems ) the clean, non-Galaxy executable resides in "The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt\bin\x64".

That's what I use to start the game, since I currently have little interest in their client.
