That means the game isn't officially supported on Windows 10.

I haven't tried it myself, but apparently the game does run on Windows 10 with the community patch you can find here

From reading the notes, sounds like Sacred 2 was a very buggy game on release and the patch addresses several of these bugs.

People on the Steam forums seem to have found some rather, how can I put it, mysterious ways of running the game on Windows 10 without the patch. One person mentioned starting the game 3 times, having it crash and freeze in the first two and then the game working on the third try. Some also mentioned getting the game to run but getting a lot of crashes later. It's unclear if these crashes are Windows 10 related or not.

Strictly speaking the game is unsupported on Windows 10.

Edit: for some reason the link isn't showing correctly. Anyway, you'll find the link to the community patch in the PCGamingWiki page for the game.

Thanks much
The game works fine on Win 10 but ever since the game originally released (not just on GOG), it has been suffering from a nasty memory leak issue and will crash some unspecific time after you start it. The community patch fixes that, but it also makes a ton of gameplay changes. Adds new quests, item types, items, changes how some skills behave, many game logic changes etc. It might not be to everyone's liking.

Unfortunately, there is no version of the patch without all this additional stuff.

I do seem to remember having used to use a memory cleaner program to fix this issue. As there are several different freeware cleaners available OP would have to try him or herself which works best. What I can confirm is that S2 works on Win 10.
Microsoft and Windows 10 right now are notorious for pushing mandatory updates that break compatibility.

So i wish you luck if you try, and hope for good results. But i don't expect them.
