Why people re-buy old games?
I have a lot of the games available in this site, and I like them, but there's nothing so special about them that will make me buy something that I already have.
Please don't raise the pitchforks and torches.
I assume most of the customers here are very hardcore fans, or they like the idea of DRM-free games, which I respect, but I think it's a waste of money.
Maybe you just buy if they release a HD edition, or a remake, but still, you're acquiring the same shit, you're giving money to lazy people that just want $$$ for something that wasn't even created by them. Nice message you're telling. I'm not surprised by the amount of awful "remakes" you can find in the market.
Other thing that is hard to understand: DLCs
You're not buying the full game, nooo, you have to buy all the parts! When we decided this was ok? You don't buy a puzzle piece by piece, you buy the box, with all the pieces inside!
You buy a demo, and if you want more, spit more coins.
I never buy games with DLCs.
I'm sorry, you'll play with a naked character, unless you pay more $20, then you can dress like a unicorn. Which is required to finish the game.
And why a place called Good Old Games sells movies?

*raises the pitchforks*

mostly its because of ease of use and people being lazy bastards

i can dig out neverwinter nights 2's dvd
install it look for the patches
install them one by one in order
have the game crash fiddled with the ini files
and get it to work

or just download the whole kit n kaboodle from my gog shelf run the installer and play within 10 minutes and play the game for the rest of the evening instead of spending it all night patching the game

convenience in other words
Because we are getting old and don't remember what was the last place we saw that same game. =)
I think I buy some old previously owned games here, to get a wake-up call as to what true/real game play is all about.

After playing junk games over time you sometimes think that you have out-grown games, which is sometimes due to the fact that you have become so accustomed to junk games, you take it as standard.

Oh yes, and to get rid of that God awful intrusive DRM.

You're making an assumption that the majority of us are "re"-buying our games. You're also seriously underestimating convenience.

that & people wanting to support the store/publishers/devs behind the game.
Or to use FEAR 2 as example there were people who rebought it so they don't have to deal with the DRM of the previous version of it or they couldn't find & or get the DLC for it.
*snort* because DRM is the DEVIL, BOY!!!

Bravo. I agree +1
What snowkatt said, and sometimes DVD drives just gobble up your disks!

It took me some days to install Fallout 3 with shitload of mods, and I have played more than 200 hours. No regret.

and installing oblivion with mods for me is a dayjob
but not everybody wants to go through all that trouble

they just want to play their games
I've re-bought several games for a few reasons.

1) The discs for those games are hundreds of miles away from my current location
2) Don't have to deal with disc swapping
3) Saves wear and tear on my laptops optical drives. I've worn out several optical drives in my gaming life, file installers do not have this problem
4) Saves wear and tear on the discs themselves. This is important as with some games, the discs can be worth quite a bit of money.
5) Don't have to deal with serial codes when installing the game
6) Sometimes, the disc version of the game is completely unplayable on new systems (though I don't have experience with this one because of reason 1)
7) I've been traveling a lot and I like to travel as light as possible. Discs takes up physical space, file installers do not.

Anyone care to refute my reasons? :)

Okay, I'll be nice :)

I don't have any remakes and I never bought the Baldur's Gate and Icewind Dale Enhanced editions either. I don't believe the fixes are worth the amount of money they're asking

We had that problem in the 90's too but back then, they were called expansion packs. However, some of what you're describing are problems with F2P games. F2P doesn't cost anything to download and play but if you find you have to pay to continue, you always have the choice of uninstalling instead. :)

alquist_walter: And why a place called Good Old Games sells movies?
GOG is just a name, it doesn't mean anything now and GOG staff have even said this. Way back, it was all about the good old games but with current releases, indie games and movies, GOG isn't just about good old games anymore. GOG can stand for anything you want it too now.

you know.. We or some people use time more installing mods than actually playing games. Infact people everywhere shout about fallout 4 I haven't finished new vegas or Skyrim.. Skyrim would be better if the game wasn't so bad in combat. =)
