kohlrak: Way, way better than i was expecting. So, we know what pisses them off.
Tbh I am gonna guess it's less WHAT I posted, and more than I was the one to post it.
(others have posted similar even before all this mess with devotion and not gotten modded at all for similar things)

kohlrak: In the same way i expect GOG to stand up to china, I'll question mod decisions i don't agree with, even if it's against the rules.
Oh you can question them alright....in private via PM or etc.....where they weigh in on their fellow mod's decisions.
(which they, of course, usually uphold and go along with in most cases)

The GOG system, in essence, is like asking each cop to be their own internal affairs department and investigate/judge themselves...all while behind a set of closed doors.

-

In most cases they remain silent or say there's no changing their decision....same with this whole devotion mess.

I was going to try to ask you in private "why you?" but it would seem that that despite "start conversation" is not greyed out, it consistently throws me to a 404 page. I'm more inclined to believe you, now, but i'd love to know why.

I got modded (i forget what exact action was taken) from EgoSoft (creators of the X series games) for questioning a mod why they selectively enforced the "no insulting other users" rule based on political affiliation. "Nazis" were fair game, but not 共匪.

I changed names recently to throw off the ones low rating my posts, so it screwed up my PMs to and from other users. You can PM me (for the time being) by opening a chat window with someone else, then adding me via the plus button(to add another PM chatter) in the same window.

I was just about to tell you that messages weren't coming through, anyway. I'll try that quick.

cleaner667: GOG Can and does region restrict. I know this for a fact.

Why not just region-restrict Devotion against China and make it available for everyone else.
Because that's not good enough for China and their petty grudge. It's either all or nothing with them.

On the bright side, this incident has made GOG/CD Projekt show their true colours, which is better late than never (and honestly couldn't have come at a better time for consumers given the 2077 refund situation). It's just such a massive shame that their true colours weren't the ones they built us up for years and years trying to portray.

See that's what I dont get, and what rubs me the wrong way. We (the rest of the world) are not China so why are they wanting us censored, and why the heck are cdpr doing it for them, anyway.

On the side of 'there's no such thing as bad publicity' if nothing else this story has brought the game to my attention and so now I want it see it for myself. Which brings up the question where can I buy it if not from gog or steam ?

I mean, yes you can get it from the high seas, but... shouldn't have to resort to that, and the devs dont make any money that way.

Because they are worried that if they piss off China by listing the game (EVEN in countries that aren't China), that China will deny them the right to do business there entirely (again, all because of one joke that was removed long ago, but the Chinese government is ridiculously sensitive and overreactionary to this kind of thing and will seemingly never let go of a grudge). And GOG make a lot of ill-gotten money from China, so they immediately caved in to appease them. Money > morals for CD Projekt, that much is clear now.
