I'm not really looking to buy one, but I was tooling around comparing gaming keyboards one day and thought it seemed pretty cool.

but now it's like the damn thing has been scoured from existence like it was the product of incest, I can find the MW2 branded version on Amazon but there aren't even used listings for the base model. what I find really weird is that the V.5 (an older design with less features) is still up for sale.

anyone got the inside scoop on why this is?
I got one for my birthday last year. I believe we got it on Walmart.com.
I really liked the keyboard, it lit up and looked awesome. But I spilled like 3 drops of tea on it and the whole thing fried. A shame.
Remember the whole Skynet/Cyborg debacle in Milwaukee a few months back? No? That's possibly why. Damn sentient AIs, ruining our gaming with their petty revolts.
If thats the one I'm thinking of, it was rather cheaply made and seemed really low-quality when I used it at Fry's. The one I'm thinking of are the "silver-plated" WASD keys, which felt like a silver-colored foil.

I bought my keyboard for 30 bucks...it had a nice key layout and some nice net function butons on the sides like pageup/down, refresh, etc. Thing is, I didn't notice until going home that it didn't have any led lights for caps lock/etc....hence sometimes I post posts and don't notice until afterwards all the case errors.
I use a Merc Stealth, I've wasted 100s on various gaming keyboards over time. The Merc Stealth is the real deal as far as I'm concerned. The Saitek Eclipse II is my pick if you must have standard layout on your keyboard.

I use a Logitech Wave and the mouse that came bundled with it, it cost me $40 total and I have no complaints ... it's got -some- extra "function" keys but I don't use a single one of them, it's just a comfortable ergonomic keyboard. like I said: I'm not actually shopping for one, I was just researching gaming keyboards and found it puzzling that the V.5 is still being produced while the V.7 got retired.
I have had my cyborg v7 for... 3 years possibly :o

The first 4-8 months was crap, It may of been my model but every now and then i had to realign the pad under the board so my buttons would work, After that though i have had no problems really, Does what i want it to do the "metal" WASD keys are fake, there chrome painted and have less grip than the normal keys... But in a way thats pretty good depending on your gamestyle

Media buttons are win... I care a lot about media buttons on my keyboards

I would like to get another keyboard though, But i really like the spacing on this one and is got a really nice weight to it too.

I cannot recall where, but I heard it had serious hardware flaws and rather than fix them, they retired it.

II have had my g15 and my g500 and they have been good to me. when I get my bonus this month I am buying a new rig and might get the steel series stuff.
I never really cared all that much for the whole LCD display, IMO it's just not worth the extra $100 that companies like to slap on for having one.

if this wave ever craps out I may upgrade to a more "gamer-ish" one that lights up, providing that I can find something decent for cheap and it's got to be wireless.
I own one, and I'm planning to switch to a Logitech G19 sooner or later. The V.7 is still around. In fact, it's still on the front page for the Cyborg brand page, now owned by Mad Catz (or rather, the whole Saitek brand was bought by Mad Catz in '07, and the Cyborg brand itself is being produced under the 'Mad Catz' umbrella, while Saitek, still a Mad Catz company but separate subsidiary, focuses on their really sweet Pro Flight flight sim systems). The "Profile management software" still says "Saitek Cyborg" on it, for some reason.
All these cool and weird and good looking keyboards have one strange thing in common. They all have that nasty Windows key branded with a Windows logo. What's up with that?
